Just a quick update. Tried the CB Longs in my Ruger MKII and contrary to popular belief they would not feed from the magazine. I didn't do a size / dimension comparison against a .22 LR round but right off the bat they did not seat correctly in the mag and would not feed. As far as accuracy out of the 6 7/8" barrel the results were pretty much the same as the CB short thread targets with maybe a marginal improvement in accuracy out at 25 yds. They did center better and the group was a bit tighter out there but not by much. I did not have any problems chambering them after having shot about 75 CB shorts first. I think that's all the info I have to offer on them. .

:D

But did you bag a varmit? :D I'm trying Fox urine (no, I did not collect it my self;) and a pellet gun. Have not seen any around the truck since then, but time will tell.

No, actually the cayenne seems to be working. I haven't seen a squirrel in a while except down in the trees.

I DID kinda buy a sheet of 3/4 plywood yesterday to build a backstop with. I'm thinking that plus 4-5 carpets with space in between the layers should stop the cbs and keep them from bouncing back.

Any thoughts on this out there?

Just cause they're not around doesn't mean I can't make lunch out of a couple once in a while. :D

(Friggin $34.95 for one 4 x 8 sheet of 3/4 at Lowes! I almost had a cardiac arrest right there. I feel much more now for the folks buying plywood during hurricane season )

cci minis will go through 3/4" of white pine but are probably nicely slowed down by it. The plywood may stop them and carpet should help too.
The old floating chamber remingtons that would feed short, long and lr would function the cbs and silence them a bit more too. Way neat.

Even though those CB Longs are on the fringe of the low end of the spectrum of cartridge power, they still impress me. Out of a 10/22, I had one zip through a piece of 3/4 chipboard and embed itself well into the yellow pages of the local phone book.

Yea, behind the target area will be the 4x4 deck post so if all else fails it'll have to get through that to get any farther. I'm not sure when I'll have time to work on it so give me a few days. I'll keep you all "posted". I'm thinking I could always double the wood if I have to because the box will only be ~ 4' x 4' and I got 4 x 8.

:D
