Has anyone ever used cci 41 primers with 5.56 ? I am working out a load for my AR and am concerned about slamfire. I will be using 55 grn fmjbt and varget.

cci #41 primers are made for mil-spec 5.56 ammo. They are a small rifle magnum primer (like cci450) with the anvil slightly moved to be less sensitive to slam fire. Just take into account they are a magnum primer when developing the load and you should not have a problem with them.

looked everywhere for those primers for my ar, gun shop would order them if I took the whole case, ended up using winchester and so far no slam fires out of 500 reloads.

I haven't seen any 41s in a while. As 1911users says, they are small magnum so back your load and work up.

Guys,
Don't know why you say they are hard to find.

Just (this week) gotten into reloading and bought the CCI 41's off Midway, $28.99 per thousand not a problem

Wideners have them
Mid South Shooters Supply have them
Natchez have them
Graf and Sons have them

Only concern In had was a number could be hard to seat in virgin Winchester brass

My primer of choice. Loaded 55gr hornady fmj, 26gr Varget, cci41's. A little temperature sensitive (beat on the brass and flatened primers when temps reached 90+) but really accruate for blasting ammo. i didn't do too much work working up the most accruate load b/c I switched to TAC powder.
