I have a Ruger MKIII .22 that after shooting about 100 rounds of federal or remington rouunds through it, it becomes a jam-o-matic, so, my questions:

Several people have recommended CCI mini mags and CCI stingers, has anyone used both?, which works better with this gun?

I don't have one. I would expect Rugers to function with just about any kind of ammo. But, many .22 autoloaders can be fussy about what kind of ammunition they shoot best, even two consecutively produced ones from the same manufacturer. Also in general, you are more likely to get reliable cycling with "high velocity" loads than "standard velocity." I suggest purchasing small quantities (a box at a time) of different loads and trying them out. (At least it is cheap, not like running ten boxes of .45 - at $15+ a box - through a gun just to "break it in.") If it does not straighten up and fly right with at least some loads and you've done your part with proper cleaning and lubrication, IMO there is some problem with it that Ruger should address.

My Ruger MkII is a little fussy about ammo. It does not like ANY brand of bulk ammo, but runs fine on individual boxes of all types of ammo I have tested. I suspect the gun's chamber is nice and tight and does not work well with the sloppy tolerances of cheap bulk ammo. I usually buy Federal Champion because it is relatively cheap, always available locally, and runs perfectly.

CCI minimags are a good bet, get the round nose ones first.

Easy on the stingers. Unless you're going varminting, they shouldn't be necessary

I just got a MKIII hunter a few months ago.

The first trip I took about 200~300 rounds of CCI-Mini mags. I did not have a single issue at all.

My next trip I took a box of the federal bulk 550count that I got from walmart.
I have put about 1200 rounds of this through with only one problem. It was around a total count of 400 rounds and one empty case stovepiped.

If your looking to try different types I would buy a box or two of each and try them out. Only one way to find out what your gun likes.

CCI Mini Mags are my first choice for my Mark 2. Accurate, plenty of power to cycle the action and relatively clean burning.

Take a bottle of FP-10 with you next time. When your Ruger gets balky, a few drops of FP-10 in the right places will get her going again.

IIRC, aren't Stingers not recomended for the Marks, or am I thinking of the 10-22?

If you have a lot of rounds through it replace the recoil spring assembly. I'd shot mine enough to kill the recoil spring, didn't really think about it on a .22 for some reason. I ordered a couple of new recoil spring assemblies and it's been fine since.
Just my personal experience.

I shoot CCI 40 grain Mini-mag's high and standard velocity. They cycle just fine in my Ruger MKIII Hunter

My III uses just about anything, but I find the best for the bucks are Federal Premium Gold and Aguila Super Extra Standard Velocity. Eley Biathlons, if I get spendy. Lapua Midas if I feel like going broke. Anything higher velocity is fine.

I recently purchased a III and had some issues initially. The first time to the range I put about 200 rounds through it with about 3 or 4 failures to feed correctly - basically the rounds would not feed all the way into he barrel and jammed the gun. They were getting caught at the feed ramp and the shells were actually bending slightly.
This was with the standard CCI stuff.

I went and bought 250 of the federal, 250 of winchester, 250 more of the CCI. I took the gun apart and cleaned very well and headed back to the range -
I got both the federal and the winchester through with no issues at all this time - I am thinking the issue may have been the break in period of a new gun but I have not had a chance to put more CCI through it - Next range session will do more CCI and a couple other brands as well.

I would suggest grabbing as many different brands at your local as you can and shoot them all. Keep in mind though that you may just be seeing the break in period which should not be more than 200 to 250 rounds or so.
