I'm taking a trip to disney world. Are there any rules/restrictions about carrying concealed on the disney property?

Disney.......gun........no way. none.at.all

staying at disney?
get caught with a gun and they may be nice about it--pack your bags for you and leave you curbside with Fl's finest escort service. weather to the airport or the jail is up to them.

Dont quote me on this but i remember reading a post on this forum in the recent past about this and someone said that it was not allowed according to Disney policy. Although there was some debate about whether or not it was illegal, i believe someone said that if Disney saw your firearm, they could ask you to leave park property but could not arrest you.

disclaimer: I am only writing what i remember from a previous post, i would advise that you call Disney directly to get their exact policy.

Really?!? And exactly which STATUTE would a person be breaking by carrying a gun at Disney World?

Huh, I go at least once, maybe twice a yr and never feel the need nor the desire to carry. Best hope it's darn secure if you're on the better rides.

There is no legal prohibition on carrying in Disney World, either in state or federal law. As long as you avoid bars, and possibly the detention facility (could be construed as a jail....) you aren't breaking any laws. You are violating Disney policy and that is it. Now, if you are noted to be carrying and you are asked to leave and you do not immediately do so, you are guilty of trespassing. Disney tickets are expensive, and if the risk of being thrown out of the park is less than the risk of being killed (in your estimate) then just be cool and carry discretely. Don't be angry or surprised if you get discovered though, you knowingly broke their rules, and were careless enough to get made.

I'm with Navy - post the relevant law or a link to an example of this actually happening, and I'll buy it. Otherwise, I call shenanigans.

I normally wouldn't comment, but seems there's some big confusion about private property trespass and public areas.

If a private business decides shirts and shoes are required, a violation of that is trespassing. Violating any similar rule is the same (CCW).

So if they catch you, and involve the authorities you'll be charged with trespassing, unless there's some additional laws in that area that come into play.

Odd, I've never lost a gun off a roller coaster. Almost lost my lunch on some of those spinny rides like the little teacups, but the gun & mags stay put.

this was what I was thinking.

For ticketed-access venues and events such as theme parks, festivals, ball games, etc. it seems that No-Concealed-Weapons is a norm.

Others have posted about standing in a long ticket line and finally getting to the ticket booth only then to seen the No-CW signs and have no option but to trudge back to the car, store the weapon, and start over in the ticket line. It's just easier to avoid the hassle, or at least inquire case-by-case ahead of time.

Incorrect.

Florida's trespass laws are very, very specific and detailed. Not wearing a shirt or shoes or legally carrying a firearm (or violation of any other 'rule')cannot possibly lead to a trespassing charge. Unless you refuse to leave when asked - which is the business owners only legal response.

As others with a much better idea of Florida law than I have stated, trespass is about the only thing you might be charged with if you're caught carrying in a non-permissive venue.

At Disneyworld, I'd be much more concerned about a fairly major response to a "man with a gun" report to the local law enforcement. Rightly or wrongly, Disneyland is probably considered a significant terrorist target. I doubt the OP would want to provoke a major SWAT response.

Some states including where I live in Missouri prohibit ccw in all amusement parks, so if I carried in worlds of fun our local amusement park I would risk jail time and have my ccw revoked. I can't speak as to Florida law but I would look into it beforehand

Been there once. At closing time as we were leaving The Magic Kingdom, I noticed there were thousands of visitors all streaming towards the same exit at the same time, and was struck by what an awesome target that would be for terrorists. A suicide bomber in a small plane with a powerful bomb could do some serious damage right then. I doubt Disney has any AAA batteries hidden in the bushes.

But I don't think I'd try to carry there, unless maybe a .38 snubbie in a pocket holster. Far too much walking for this fat old man, I wouldn't want the extra weight and bulk. I didn't notice lots of cops or security people, but I imagine they keep a low, "undercover" profile to begin with. It costs too damn much for criminals to get in there to go hunting anyway, IMO. Now, outside the Disney properties is another story.

Having lived in Fl most of my life and in Central Fl. for over 15yrs, I am very familiar with Disney World and their security people. Their private police are composed of ex spec forces and even former FBI agents. They can spot a obvious carry and Will escort you off the premises as well as run a background check and photo you for the ticket windows. They don't give 2nd chances, they are an entity unto themselves and local and state are contacted by them, only after their own crime scene team have been through any crime there. I've had very good friends work there and one was an ex Ranger that worked with their security team. He said their interrigators could give the CIA lessons.

Good thread so far! I've been wondering about this too as my wife is looking to do a trip to Disney. I'd love it if anybody has any firsthand experience with this or can reference specific laws - anything regarding carrying in an amusement park or specifics on trespass (whether you must refuse to leave for it to be trespass, etc).

If Disney is run like robhof says then the snipers in the castle should be able to cover the whole park. I guess there is no need to carry.:)

Went last December. When I was researching the topic at the time, I did not find any official statement about concealed carry. So my trusty DW 1911 went with me to Disney and Universal. No frisking, no hassles in 4 days. YMMV.

The last thread on this provided a letter that was received from Disney about CCW on their property. It said it is not allowed but never stated a Florida law which made it illegal.
My understanding was go ahead and carry but if you get caught you will be kicked out and loose any hope of seeing Mickey that day.

It appears that if you refuse it is indeed a trespass violation.
