The wife and I are going to a concert next month at the Nutter Center in Dayton and I was wondering what the CCW there situation was?

the Nutter Center is part of Wright State University, so I would guess you can't carry in there.

well, you can carry anywhere you want to. Its the possibility of getting cought, that you have to consider in weighing the cost/ benefit ratio.
Don't forget, CCW laws have been around for only a short time, but folks have been packing for centuries.
Its your life that is at risk out there, so its really your call as to how you protect yourself.

Just a thought but if it is a concert, I can bet there is going to be some type of "wanding" going on. That shooting in the Columbus area club at a Pantera concert a few months back I am sure tightened some things up.

three reasons you can't

1. college
2. alcohol
3. I think it qualifies as an open air arena? not sure about that one

It's funny how some people think that wanding etc would have prevented that...

Absolutely no carry at Nutter Center. You can't even carry there for hockey games. College and Alcohol are the 2 reasons.

With that argument, then I guess there's no reason to ever ask a question about CCW being allowed.

However, I'm pretty sure that was meant as an 'is it legal' type question.

Actually I didn't say that at all. What I said was:

I was meaning that since this happened, you can bet wanding is going to increase, especially in Ohio concerts. Whether or not it helps at all is a totally different matter. Since someone brought up the thought of "bypassing" the law some, if figured I would throw this out there.

Went to a rodeo at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus recently. The staff had everyone open their jacket upon entry. What that is suppose to prove I have no idea. Anyway, I'd think all arena venues throughout Ohio are simular. Besides, Ohio conceal carry law is GOOFY in many ways. Don't think I 'd want to be the first example of an arrest. Let it happen to someone else, and wait for the outcome.

boy did the grammer in that come out all wrong

But then, you didn't say that YOU graduated there! :)

I actually drive by the Nutter Center every day going to work, which is right across the street from Wright State itself... I have to go onto base at Wright Patt pretty often, and I have to watch just about everywhere I carry... i don't think I can carry anywhere on base at all, and all the contractor buildings put up signs the day the CCW law passed. That's probably the toughest area around.

Not Wyle Laboratories. :neener:

Thanks for the input guys. With the possibility of the wands, sounds like I might have to rely on the 'good will' of my fellow man once we get there, and not carry. :(
