CCW In Grand Canyon National Park Arizona?

I want to take a family trip to the Grand Canyon Nat'l Park in which my CCW has Reciprocity in Arizona, however, We want to hike to Havasu Falls, which is on the Supai, Havasupai Indian Reservation, Grand Canyon National Park, Coconino County.

Does anyone know If licensed CCW is allowed:
A. In the Grand Canyon Nat'l Park in Arizona?
B. On Havasupai Indian Reservation?

I am a former AZ resident. CCW is not honored on any reservation in the area. You should be OK at the South Rim or North Rim (after the North Rim opens in the spring).

The recent rule change should allow it in the main sections of the park (South Rim around the visitor's center, hotels and campgrounds).

It might be a good idea to call ahead of time and ask.

Oops, I forgot they changed the park policy this month. The Havasupai are more restrictive; I seem to remember they also prohibit alcohol, fires and pets on the reservation. You also have to have reservations to camp there.

Park yes, reservations, BIG no no. Enjoy AZ, but don't carry on a reservation, open or concealed, without written permission from tribal police. Only exception is on a highway going through the res.

Actually a very good question. My experiences dealing with reservations range from strict to non-existent gun laws. A call would be a good idea.

I've been in Texas over the new park policy change, I may make a few detours through national parks on my way home to celebrate.

On the local res here in central Oregon, CCW is generally prohibited. However, the tribal authorities have made a specific exception for CCW holders travelling the highway that crosses the res.

I agree -- call or write the tribal authorities. It's their land, they are best-suited to provide an answer. In any event, enjoy GCNP - a genuine American treasure!

Gotta agree with you there KY Larry, Cumberland Gap NHS and the ridge it straddles is a place where time stands still.

I also highly recommend any of the cave tours at Kentucky's
Mammoth Cave NP.

Havasupai is incredible - I've hiked it twice, and plan to go back the end of this summer. Previous posters are correct - no guns allowed on Indian reservations, even with a CCW. Use this as your excuse to buy that new bowie knife you've been wanting . . .

Carry at the Cumberland Gap National Park is a go. The local paper had a front page story with an interview of the head ranger talking about it being legal now with a carry permit.
