i live in Niagara county in NEW YORK. i am starting the permit process next week. i would like to have ccw, but it is extremely hard to get here. so i am looking for advice on how to have a better chance of receiving ccw. i am in the military here, and acted as a security forces officer, which now i do not need a saftey course.

thanks in advance

More specifically Niagra County:

Hello FYI when I applied for my permit in 2001, it took a year to get my CCW for Niagara county. It was restricted to hunting and target. It then took me 3 more years to get my restrictions off. I was told by clerks office you have to wait at least a year or more before you can ask the County Judge to remove them. You have to write a nice letter explaining why you should be granted a full carry. Judge Peter Broderick is a very reasonable judge. Most of the hold up for me was the Niagara Falls Police contacting my References and doing the interview with me.

Because the approval process is completely arbitrary, you really need to talk to other carry license holders in your area. Visit the local gun shops and ask them about it. They can probably hook you up to some people that can describe their experience.

In some counties everyone gets a carry license...in others no one gets one. It’s the luck of the draw.
