.. and to further clarify, if after you give him your license, and he asks to see your registration and proof of insurance, and while you are getting them out of the glove box he spots the handgun in there ... you are going to wish you handed him the CCW along with the license.

IMHO. Your mileage may vary. No warranty expressed or implied, and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

As Treo, among others has stated constantly ,you never keep your registration and insurance papers in the glove box with your gun.
You keep them in a separate place like the console or above the sun visor.NEVER with the gun, capiche?
Commonsense has to prevail. And Treo and I never stay at a Holiday Inn Express.Lousy bar and restaurant service.:D
Just use the noodle God gave you.

Maybe someone else who knows for sure can chime in, but I think some of the state agencies here (WA) can see that you have a permit when they run your plate. I have never been asked, and unfortunately after years of not being pulled over, I've been zapped three times in the last five (who knew every street corner was considered a "crosswalk" in the city of Bellingham?).

I too have wondered if they know you have a carry permit when they run your license. I've never been asked when pulled over (speeding and then later for a burned out tail light).

Bellingham - That city has a LOT of LEO's. Most of them are pretty friendly folk. But they will cite you for jaywalking and just about anything else you never thought of.

I was pulled over by a Sheriff' deputy

He ran my plate and my driver's license due to an improper right turn.
Upon return to me and my motorcycle, he asked if I was carrying because he knew I had a permit.
I was not carrying at the time, and told him. He was a very cordial fellow, but very ready for an armed response from me.
I was so tired, that I let my knees buckle under me to lean against my bike in a sudden motion. He was quick to have his hand on his piece in that second.
After a well deserved lecture on driving while tired, he left me with a stern warning about getting some rest.
I am very grateful for the men and women in uniform I have met in Washington State. Their job must not be an easy one!

Here in Wa , your CPL info is tied to your DL so it shows when they run it . Its also been my experience that the LEOs (especially the atate troopers) are WAY more friendly after they find out you have one .
