So I carried my MP40 for the first time today, the holster I used was a Fobus Tactical Elite Paddle. I used a long polo shirt as my cover garment. First went to the local sporting good's store to pick up a few things then went to Costco for some other stuff (I know Costco is anti gun but didnt see any signs saying its posted). Went out to lunch with Grandma and then came home. Overall it was a GREAT experience. I found myself being very overly aware of it especially at first but I think some of the nerves will calm down after time. I know I checked it more than I needed to and THR has taught me that thats a newbie habit. Overall I was very happy. I was extremely surprised that it did not bug me in the car at all. I carried it just behind my front pocket at about the 4o'clock position. I would have expected this to hit the seat or seatbelt but its perfect.

way to go WooHoo, congrats on your cherry poppin experience.

Now continue to do so in good health!

you will get used to it and then it will feel odd when you do not have it.

Did Granny know?

Good for you! It's quite comforting isn't it? See, who said us conservatives had no feelings!:)

We need an applause smiley!!!

Good for you. It will get more comfortable, and you won't feel like there's a neon sign flashing over your head that says HE HAS A GUN!!!! :neener:

Well done!

good for you.

be safe... careful.... follow the law to the utmost detail, and you'll be fine.

I found myself being very overly aware of it especially at first but I think some of the nerves will calm down after time.

that fixes itself over time. You'll get used to it.

Congrats, I know it feels weird at first, but I fell naked when I'm not carrying now.............and that would not be a pretty sight!

So I carried my MP40 for the first time today,...

Last time I carried an MP40, I used a sling and wore my spare magazines in a vertical carrier across my belly like a vest. Of course, each magazine held 32 rounds...

Yeah, she feels that every time we get another shall-issue state.
"I feel as though a great many people suddenly cried out in joy. . . "

Way to go!

I had my first time just about 8 months ago, so I still have the feeling fresh in my mind. It's amazing how quick it will become second nature. I forget my cell more often when I leave the house than my CCW.

congrats, im still nervous when i carry. i do avoid checking as best i can. and just check when i do something like sit down or stand up to ensure im still covered. i use a quick visual check, or a "knuckle crack" where i push my fist into my hip as if to crack my knuckles, which i do frequently.

Went out to lunch with Grandma
iv done that too!

Oh Oh Yeah

Yep, we all remember that Special Feeling we got when we had our First Experience and we....uh....oh yeah, when we first began to CCW.

Seriously though, welcome aboard and congrats.

My first day I was startled by a paperboy throwing a paper into my driveway and ducked behind my truck like and idiot as a reached for my piece.

All i heard was a loud pop from the paper smacking my driveway
and all I could see was a young kid reaching his arm out of a moving vehicle I did not recognize.

Needless to say I felt like a tool and have calmed down...lol

Ok yes it was a Smith and Wesson M&P .40 I will be carrying again tomorrow. I have a generic IWB Uncle Mikes Holster I might give a shot depending on what my laundry situation looks like.

congrats!
You will find that you are more mindful of the law and more polite and responsible yourself.

Off topic maybe but since I began carrying several years ago, my bar tab is nil and my choice of "friends" has greatly improved. Now I am not knocking anyone who has one with the boys (or girls) I still do. I'm just much more careful about the when, where and with whom. In Mich. you can drive a car with .08 blood/alcohol limit but for concealed carry it's .02.

kd7nqb - welcome to the club. Yet another person taking responsibilit for their own safety in Portland. That "everyone is watching, everyone knows" feeling will quickly fade. You'll soon feel uncomfortable without it on your hip.

Try open carry, you’ll find that you don’t need to check it as often.
;)

'grants

'grates....soon that feeling will go away...the next stage will be feeling naked with out it.... to get that NEW feeling i hang my MAC under a jacket...the problem is here in florida it only happens once or twice a year.....gpr

Been carrying for almost twenty years now. I have a number of OWB rigs, but for concealed carry, an IWB provides a little better peace of mind. YMMV.
