Hey all,

I know how to reload shotshells, and have done so with my grandfather quite a few times. So, I've got the basics of reloading down for shotguns, but I have never done any centerfire rifle reloading. What would be the bare necessities for reloading centerfire rifle ammo? (I've already go the brass but that's about it). I mean what is the cheapest kit of equipment available for me to reload say 30-06 and 7mm-08 ammunition?

PS: when I say cheap, I mean cheap, and when I say bare necessities I mean it too...

Thanks all!

wow, that's about as cheap as it gets! Thanks Slamfire! Only question with the Lee Loader, do I have to buy a separate set for each round I reload (for instance, one for 7-08 and one for 30-06?) or is it adjustable?
thanks again man!

You have to buy caliber specific dies for each caliber, no matter what equipment you buy.

In the case of the Lee Loader hammer bammer, you need one set in 30-06, and one set in 7mm-08.

With that said, I would urge you to save up until you can afford a real reloading press & dies, as well as a powder scale, and several reloading manuals.

If you continue to reload in the future, that is where you will want to end up anyway.
Trust me!

An estimate would be as follows:
Dies- $15 to $20 per caliber
Used press- $50 - $75
Dial caliper- $10
Scale- $80
Lee case length guage/trimmer- $25 ish
Loading tray- $10
Powder funel- $10
Ream & chamfer- Lee for $8
Total = $225.00 - $260.00
The above estimate does not include powder, primers, or bullets.
If you spend some time searcing, I'm sure you could bump into to some better deals on used items.
Everything I listed is necessary to safely load. To eliminate any of the items above would be a crap shoot every time you pull the trigger.
Fortunately there are powder's that will work well for both of the cartridges you mentioned.

the next "step up" is 1 of these:

and a set of neck sizer dies if your shooting style can use them

this little press can load full length rifle, but it becomes quite an effort.

bench mounted press is of course the "best" but these will make fine ammo, just slower.

but if you like to be out the evening before a hunt sitting and around the campfire or in the tent, etc. and roll a few of your own, the 2 i posted fit the bill
