Anyone have any updates on the recent quality of these rifles?
I would like to purchase one as soon as possible.

Are these the real deals?

I like mine, only a few hundred rounds through it, but without any problems.

It's "close" to the real deal--isreali parts on an ORF milled reciever.

I've heard a couple of bad reports on akfiles or gunco--and of course century has had a lousy rep in the past. All I know for sure is I love mine.

I know that there is somebody - Atlantic Firearms maybe? - that is taking Saiga receivers and putting Galil parts on them. Those seem to be well received.

(pardon the pun, har har)

:D

Wow. I had to hold my sides when I was done laughing at that one. My friend said, "I don't get it," and I explained it to her, and she gave me this blank stare. Then she told me it wasn't that funny. That's okay, though -- she's not really a gun person.

Now back to drinking beer and watching Spaceballs...

Galils never used a stamped receiver, so I don't think that Saiga dress-up is a reasonable substitute (I'm sure it's a darn nice rifle).

If you want a Galil or a reasonable clone, I see the choices as:
Buy and IMI (ie, take out a mortage on the house)
Buy a century
Buy an Ohio Rapid Fire
Buy a parts kit and an ORF reciever

If you want a cool AK type of rifle and don't mind stamped, then the saiga dress up would be an okay choice--but at 999 retail and a Century galil at 850 at aimsurplus? Maybe I got luck, but I love my century galil.

Bought a Century off the net. $800 + shipping + transfer fee. Wouldn't eject and jammed second round into face of receiver. $30.40 shipping back to Century. Changed bolt. Got it back, but haven't shot it yet. Not a beauty. Also got a Hesse Hagel off net $700 delivered + transfer fee. New parts, ARM gasblock, IMI barrel, looks like they switched out the handguard for AR. Shoots good. Which to keep and which to sell?

I've sold 4 so far. We had one lose a pin out of the rear sight, but other than that, they've all been reliable and have shot good.
