I wouldn't touch a Century anything, much less a Galil. No, Century does not make their own receivers, but it is my understanding they do their own assembly, and you know what that's like.
ORF is on their third generation of receivers. Be patient. Reverse engineering isn't easy. The first ones had some issues, the second round was much better, the third promises to fantastic.
The parts kits that were recently sold ranged from "ok" to "beat up"; however the Galil is a rugged design, and with the new barrels there's absolutely no reason why those parts won't make a good rifle. Right now new parts are still available.
"decent Galil at a decent price" Why not spend a couple of hundred more and get a really good Galil at a fair price? I'm not saying everyone should can just throw money at these things -- I cheap out too, but I do it by building my own and saving the labor cost -- but if you want a Galil, why not get a good one instead of something cobbled together by the drunken monkeys at Century?
texlurch -- I'm curious, what specific problems did these folks have? Where the guns ORF built, or built by a third part on an ORF receiver?
