Hi all,

It's time for me to get a gun safe. I tried looking at all the previous posts regarding safes but I could not find what I was looking for. I have a few specific needs.

I am looking for an inexpensive safe, about $400-$600. It is unlikely that at any time in my life will I have more than 8 long guns. So it does not have to be too big. However, I wish to store my 4 handguns (will prolly have 6 total in the coming years), in the safe as well. I want a relatively small safe that will accommodate the handguns in a "pistol rack" configuration placed on a shelf, or wooden pegs configuration on the interior of the safe's door.

If it's the latter, where do I get the accessories to mount that sort of system? How is the peg system fixed to the door? Adhesive? If it's the former, do most safes have enough clearance above the long guns to place a shelf and store handguns in a "rack" configuration?

I want to avoid getting a separate safe for my handguns. I like the idea of opening one door and seeing all of my firearms in one spot. :)

Do some googling

using the word "magnetic"

I have racks on the inside door of my old / small safe. They are attached with HD magnets, and are simply pegboard with coated wire hangers.

They work great--adjustable for different handguns, and the four magnets are strong enough to hold a pegboard big enough to hold four handguns easily.

They were available as an accessory for that safe (I forget the brand), but I'll bet that you could make them yourself--just find the right magnets to glue / screw to the pegboard--like about 2" dia, 1/2" deep?
