I just picked up a used (very slightly) Sentry 11/22 gun safe. It's a good size for my current needs, but I have a problem.

The previous owner used it for a single handgun :confused: and paperwork. Thus, he purchased the "shelves and paperwork" interior configuration.

Is there anyplace one can BUY the inserts to support long guns? I've found the "rotary rack," but that's not really what I'm looking for. I'd just like the standard pseudo-shelf with semi-circle cuts.

Any ideas about vendors or sources? The Google search wore me out and produced nothing.

$38.00 for 1, 4'X8' sheet of 3/4 plywood
$ 0.00 for borrowing 1 skill (circular saw)
$ 0.00 for borrowing 1 jigsaw
$ 2.00 for 1 roll of felt
$ 2.00 for 1 bottle Elmers Glue
$ 0.00
$42.00 to make whatever you want.

Why buy?!?!?!

If you really just want to buy instead of DIY then I would contact Sentry and ask them.

Just moved into a new house and the "to-do" list is long - figured if I could buy the needed item, it might be faster to order. :eek:

The home project won't be that difficult, but as much as safe makers trumpet their "modularity," I'm sort of surprised that the inserts are an elusive item.

Putting my actions with my words. My vaults are shrinking; they must be, I can't fit my firearms any longer. :)

So much space is wasted. The pistol shelves, for example, just take up disproportionately too much space and effectively cut the vault in half in terms of height. Optimally, the configuration I want is for one side to be for long-guns (rifles and shotguns), and the other side to have a combination of full-length shelves and half-length shelves. Those shelves could hold the magazines, pistols and shorter carbines.

For the past week, I have been planning, measuring my weapons and supplies, and cutting custom-length shelves for my vaults. It is coming along well, and my firearms fit better, and fit more stable. Too crowded and improper fit leads to vault scratches and dings!

I'll post pics when my daughter gets back from camp and I have the camera again.
