CETME & G3 variants magazine wobble thread

I have a CETME.
There is no mag wobble, zero, nada, zilch when using the original CETME magazines. They lock up mucho tight.
There is no mag wobble, zero, nada, zilch when using the G3 magazines. They lock up even more mucho tight. They usually require a sharp rap on the bottom to lock in place.
In fact, the magazine is firmly inserted inside a 4 sides magazine well, I dont see any room for a magazine to wobble.

Mine seat very tightly also. Are you using original or G-3 mags? Not that it should matter. I also use both without a problem.
From what I understand, the form for the "Century" stamped receivers were made with the magwell a tad too large. This allows a lot more room for error... less precision is needed to assemble the rifles. Alsi, the cutouts for the mag release on some rifles are not cut "to spec". This can lead to bad magazine fit.
Most of these problems can be dealt with by customizing the mags a tad (one example is the guy that put his mags in a vise and squeezed them a bit, front-to-back, making them fit better side-to-side).
There are two forums (one is on www.gunboards.com , the other one is www.cetmerifles.com) where there are many wise men dedicated to the art of WECSOG'ing these interesting firearms...

If you are experimenting with an empty magazine then yes, there should be a small amount of front to back wobble.
This occurs because the follower is rocking back and forth against the bottom of the bolt.
The magazine spring, being a spring, allows this wobble to occur as the follower is flexing the spring up and down.
With a fullly loaded magazine there is much less wobble because the cartridges are bearing against the bottom of the bolt and applying tension to the spring.
I have no side play wobble with my PTR-91.
