so... what do you guys think of this gun? I have been thinking about purchasing a .308 semi auto rifle for a wee bit now. I thought about the PTR 91, but it is way above my budget! I appreciate all of your wise words, thanks!

I have one, and love the thing. Accurate enough for me (Casual target shooting at ~100yards ussually) Common enough ammo, and all around fun. The only downside I see to it is that two takedown pins are a pain and a half to get out..not sure if mines the exception to the rule there or what.

Avoid the century arms ones unless it's been looked over really closely by a gunsmith. All of my expereinces are that the assemble junk parts on junk recievers using drunk monkeys as line workers.

I had one that would only feed FMJ, and the chamber was so chewed up that it would push the shoulder of the cartridge forward an amount visible to the naked eye- you could see the line where the shoulder was and where it moved to. It was only good to about 8" over 100 yards and was really picky about magazines.

Plus the fact that the Cetme has a nasty extractor that rips about half of the base of the cartridge off during extraction (not bad, unless you're looking to reload), and I sold the thing. I was honest to the buyer about it when I sold it, but he knew them pretty well and was going to go over it anyway. That thing was a raging heap at best and dangerous at worst.

If you do it look it over well for a ground bolt(CAI). You can fix just about anything that isn't right, but it can sometimes be a pain. DIY is cheap enough if you so choose because most issues are relatively simple to fix(+- $100.00).
Pretty accurate with little felt recoil when in tune. There's lots of them out that run fine as built...The others are the ones you hear horror tales of. Get someone that knows them to help you check it out.

My Century cast SS CETME has been 100%.
It now has a 4x STANAG scope and is about 1moa.
Hope this helps.
Later,
Doug

I strongly recommend the cast receiver over the bent ones. Most of the cast ones just run. If buyin from an idividual test fire if at all possible.

When they first hit,@ $285 shipped,and ammo was $150 a K
for Port, mags for $1.00,they were GREAT.
Now at $600+,ammo @ $500 a K,they don't look so good.

Mine was an Century gun,ran great. Went through many cases of Port.
Let her go last year, still have my Saiga 308.
Have you looked at the Saiga line yet!! ;)
My converted 308 does anything the Cetme can do,and
does it better(short mag cost).
