I've got some RMR 124 gr. hollowpoints and needing some loading data. Hodgen data is pretty sparing. Hodgen lists a 124 Berry's plated as starting at 4.9 and going to 5.5. That is the only data for a 124. For a 125 Hodgen starts a 125 jacketed (hollowpoint) at 4.2 and goes to 4.8; and a 125 FMJ at 4.6 and goes to 5.1.

1: I would suppose to use the 125 jacketed data for the RMR bullet, but

2: Why is the plated bullet loaded so much hotter? (The plated bullet and hollowpoint are .356 and the FMJ is .355)

Thanks.

I use the RMR 124 plated RN. My oal is ~1.133 and I use 5.1 gr of CFE pistol. FWIW

I should hopefully have some chrono numbers for the new RMR HPs tomorrow comparing the same charge of a couple powders between the RMR 124 HP and FN loaded to the same case depth. (different OAL the HPs will be about .033 longer)
The HPs are nice looking bullets. I really like the FNs.

No experience with the RMR HP's, but I am running their 124gr RN @ 1.145" COL with 5.3gr of CFE Pistol with really good accuracy (sorry, no chrono data.)

Yes, the HP's are a jacketed bullet and should be loaded with jacketed specs. I'm not sure why the manual lists such a difference for a plated bullet. If anything, it should be the other way around.

243winxb,

how did you get such a perfect cut? Every time I try to cut a bullet it ends up smearing lead into the copper and it looks bad.

I loaded some RMR 124 HPs today with 4.5 of CFE to 1.076 (more or less) and will try them tomorrow.

4.5 CFE at 1.11 functioned fine in my Springfeild 1911 9mm. No issues in my XD subcompacrt as well. About 980fps int the 5" 1911.
At 1.08 you will probably pick up 20-30fps. (just guessing about that #)
