North American Union
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

A map of the theoretical boundaries of the North American UnionThe North American Union is a proposed international government encompassing the nations of Canada, the United States, and Mexico. It could be considered the North American analogue of the European Union.

The blueprint for this governing body was laid out in a 2005 report entitled "Building a North American Community" published by the Independent Task Force on North America, a partnership among the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), an American foreign policy think tank, the Canadian Council of Chief Executives, and the Consejo Mexicano de Asuntos Internacionales.

The Independent Task Force on North America was chaired by Canadian politician John Manley, a former Deputy Prime Minister.

History
The evolving history of a future North American Union can trace its roots back to the original major expansion of European power in the Americas, for which the voyage to America by Christopher Columbus was the major initial catalyst. Multiple great powers, especially England, France, and Spain, among others, fought each other for total hegemony over the new lands.

Eventually, the colonial peoples of North America obtained independence from European control as three major nation-states: first, the United States of America (declared 1776, recognized 1783); second, the United Mexican States (declared 1810, recognized 1821); third, the Canadian Confederation (initiated 1867, completed 1982). Although initially ignored or suppressed by the former colonial peoples, the indigenous peoples of the Americas were eventually also recognized as fellow North Americans.

(At the same time, of course, the peoples of Central America and South America also obtained their independence; note that Central America originally declared independence as the United Provinces of Central America (1823), but soon broke up into separate independent states (1840).)

In recent times, the three North American nation-states have been increasing their economic ties, accelerating the process with the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

In response to the demands of increasing globalization and shared concerns from abroad, such as the increasing clout of other economic spheres such as the European Union and China, the leaders of the three nations agreed in 2005 to work more cooperatively on shared North American concerns. To this end, the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America was established. [1]

It is likely that any future North American Union would continue to build on the work done through initiatives such as NAFTA and the SPP.

Current debate
It has been suggested that a hypothetical common currency might be called the "Amero", which would be similar in concept to the Euro, the common currency of the EU. [2] However, this is seen as needlessly generic even by many proponents, as two of the three countries (Canada and the USA) already use a dollar-based currency, along with many Caribbean nations which could be candidates for accession to a future NAU. [citation needed] Note that the third major country, Mexico, uses the peso, which is also a dollar-like currency (although it is currently trading at an exchange rate significantly lower relative to the dollar currencies of both Canada and the USA). (At one time, one silver dollar equaled exactly one peso, which was in turn based on the Spanish dollar.)

The three nations that make up the NAU would either significantly diminish or else erase remaining trade and travel restrictions with each other, making entry into their countries from the other two nearly as easy as crossing state or provincial lines within each of said countries (as is already the case within the EU). Because of this, the NAU is seen by many in the United States as an end run around Federal immigration laws. which would also eliminate any need for actual amnesty for illegal immigrants (as is currently being debated in the US Congress). [citation needed]

This proposed supranational government is also seen by many as surrendering US sovereignty, which undermines the United States Constitution. Because of these and other provisions that would be enacted if the NAU was put in place, it is considered to be nothing more than an illegal international treaty by many in the United States. [citation needed]

Within Canada, the North American Union proposal is seen by some opponents as compromising Canadian sovereignty, potentially paving the way for Canada's total annexation by the United States. [citation needed]

Geography
The North American Union would currently (as of 2006) have a total population of around 436,020,884 citizens. For comparison, the European Union currently (as of 2006) has an estimated population of 457,514,494.

The NAU population would be divided among the three constituent nations as follows:

North American Population By Country Country Population
USA 297,550,259
Mexico 107,449,525
Canada 31,021,100

The NAU would collectively have 97 states and provinces. For comparison, the EU currently includes 25 member states; note that some of the EU states themselves have major regional divisions (for example, the United Kingdom includes England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, all of which (especially Scotland) exercise a certain degree of regional autonomy and Germany is a federal republic with 16 states much like the US and Mexico).

The NAU states and provinces would be ordered by population as follows:

Even reading this...even knowing that somewhere out there, someone agrees with this...makes my skin crawl, and literally makes me nauseous.

Well, here is the federal government web site for this initiative, for all those who think this is just a tin foil hat wearers scheme. I invite you to visit all the pages on the site. It is being done as we speak.

Security and Prosperity Partnership Of North America web site is:

http://www.spp.gov/

The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP) was launched in March of 2005 as a trilateral effort to increase security and enhance prosperity among the United States, Canada and Mexico through greater cooperation and information sharing.

This trilateral initiative is premised on our security and our economic prosperity being mutually reinforcing. The SPP recognizes that our three great nations are bound by a shared belief in freedom, economic opportunity, and strong democratic institutions.

The SPP provides the framework to ensure that North America is the safest and best place to live and do business. It includes ambitious security and prosperity programs to keep our borders closed to terrorism yet open to trade.

The SPP builds upon, but is separate from, our long-standing trade and economic relationships. It energizes other aspects of our cooperative relations, such as the protection of our environment, our food supply, and our public health.

Looking forward, President Bush, Prime Minister Harper and President Fox have identified emergency management; influenza pandemics, including avian influenza; energy security; and safe and secure gateways (border security and facilitation) as key priorities for the SPP. The Leaders also announced the creation of North American Competitiveness Council to fully incorporate the private sector into the SPP process.

And here is the portion about a universal ID initiative. This is really great here:

White House SPP Fact Sheet March 31, 2006

Updated: March 31, 2006

The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America: Next Steps

The three leaders of North America agreed to advance the agenda of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP) by focusing on five high priority initiatives:

The North American Competitiveness Council. Increasing private sector engagement in the SPP by adding high-level business input will assist governments in enhancing North America's competitive position and engage the private sector as partners in finding solutions. The Council will:

Consider issues that could be addressed trilaterally or bilaterally, as improvements in our bilateral relationships enhance North American competitiveness.
Address issues of immediate importance and provide strategic medium and long-term advice.
Provide input on the compatibility of our security and prosperity agendas, given the linkages between security and prosperity in a global marketplace.
Offer ideas on the private sector's role in promoting North American competitiveness.
Advancing Cooperation on Avian and Pandemic Influenza. Leaders agreed to the following principles to guide collaboration on all stages of avian or pandemic influenza management:

Share information among our governments in an open, timely and transparent manner.
Adopt an integrated and comprehensive approach that incorporates animal and public health aspects in managing avian influenza and influenza pandemics.
Ensure coordination within our respective national governments on all aspects of emergency management for an avian influenza outbreak or a human influenza pandemic, by building on existing mechanisms of cooperation and strengthening them as required.
Coordinate our actions and leverage our respective capacities to ensure rapid and effective steps are taken to deal with avian influenza outbreaks or a human influenza pandemic in North America.
Advise one another in advance of making any decision that could seriously affect the other countries.
Base our actions on the best available science and evidence-based decision-making.
Agree that the imposition and removal of veterinary or public health measures on the movement of people, animals, and goods, under our national laws and international obligations, will not be more restrictive or maintained longer than necessary to achieve the veterinary or public health objective so as to avoid unnecessary interference with the movement of people and goods within North America.
Ensure that the business continuity plans of our respective governments consider the highly interconnected nature of our economies.
Strive to utilize clear and consistent messaging to the public and international organizations that is proactive, timely and accurate.
North American Energy Security Initiative. A secure and sustainable energy supply is essential for our economic prosperity in North America. To advance our energy agenda we have agreed to:

Enhance the development of a diverse energy resource base in North America by increasing collaboration on research, development and commercialization of clean energy-related technologies, and
Strengthen the North American energy market by improving transparency and regulatory compatibility, promoting the development of resources and infrastructure, increasing cooperation on energy efficiency standards, and supporting other efforts aimed at addressing challenges on the demand side.
North American Emergency Management. The commitments made in the SPP recognize that a disaster - whether natural or man-made - in one North American country can have consequences across national borders, and may demand a common approach to all aspects of emergency management. Recent experience with hurricanes, ice storms, industrial accidents and the like demonstrate our interdependencies, as well as the need for coordination and mutual assistance in protecting and safekeeping our populations. Moving forward we will:

Develop a common approach to critical infrastructure protection, and response to cross border terrorist incidents and natural disasters, across a number of different sectors including, but not limited to, transportation, energy, and telecommunications.
Develop and implement joint plans for cooperation for incident response, as well as conduct coordinated training and exercises in emergency response.
Smart, Secure Borders. Leaders agreed to complete the following activities, to contribute to smart and secure borders, over the next twenty-four months:

Collaborate to establish risk-based screening standards for goods and people that rely on technology, information sharing and biometrics.
Develop and implement compatible electronic processes for supply chain security that use advanced electronic cargo information to analyze risk and ensure quick and efficient processing at the border;
Develop standards and options for secure documents to facilitate cross-border travel;
Exchange additional law enforcement liaison officers to assist in criminal and security investigations; and,
Develop coordinated business resumption plans at border crossings to ensure legitimate trade continues.

Quote:
"It'll happen, but what exactly will happen to our rights?"

Sir, they will cease to exist if we allow it to continue toward this one world government. What you see there is a plot against the United States Constitution.

However, up til now, everyone has been saying that people such as me, who have been trying to talk about the New World Order, One World Government movement by the elitists that infiltrate our highest offices, are nut balls.

Everyone says we were tin hat nut cases. Now, you have the insiders slowly conditioning you to accept it. For example, you wrote "It'll happen, but what will happen to our rights?"

Well, you will have stood by and given them away to dictators.

That's what.

I don't mean to be disrespectful, but that is what is going on right as you read this.
I mean, look at the signature quote below. That is from a United States Congressman, for God's sake!

No third rail, but while we all wait (and I am just as guilty, even though I have been blabbering for the last twenty years about the New World Order)
and say "It is happening now" or "It'll happen, but what about our rights" etc., they are marching forward.

The issue is not will we follow the Constitution. The issue is how the insiders fomenting an insurrection right before our very eyes, ARE DISREGARING it totally.

Man I sure don't know what else to do. I know that the guys that created this nation were much better men than I am, because all I do is try to petition the government for redress, and rally support for going back to the original contract, our system of representative government. The so called "Representatives" have a sudden memory loss, every time you mention the Constitution, and there are pamphlets distributed by State agencies claiming "property rights activists" are potential bad guys, and people who "often refer to the Constitution" as being potential bad guys.

You have a McCain Feingold bill that disallows freedom of speech, you have a Federal law that says you can be jailed, and habeus corpus is suspended, etc.

And we collectively sit by and watch it happen. I am just as guilty as the folks that fail to pay attention to it at all. Nowdays, watching some nonsense such as "desperate housewives" is more important than a plan taking place to disolve our representative system of government. :uhoh:

Funny thing is, I remember the local daily paper (Times-Dispatch) advocating in favor of this sort of union a few years back. They're generally derided as a Republican party organ.

There really isn't much difference between the conventional left and right anymore.

There really isn't much difference between the conventional left and right anymore.

Ever read up on the party lines going back years? They've crossed paths, etc, many times.

Jerome Corsi dumped an FOIA letter on the commerce dept and they missed the deadline. This thing will stay only on right handed radars until after the election.

Can you imagine the amount of money to be made busting up three governments then reassembling them into a super state? Just think of all those consultant fees.

Longeyes:

The "New World Order" will bring about "order"?

The same people running this initiative (United Nations) have done such a bang up job in the past of creating peace.

Somalia, Cambodia, Rwanda, etc.

No, we must halt this one world government movement within this country itself. We need to elect people LIKE OURSELVES, not like EUROPEAN DICTATORS.

The NWO's model is that of the "Peaceable Kingdom," not a republic of free men. As you say we need to preserve our American inspiration, regardless of the price. Look at the news and we see this globe locked into the false dichotomy of benighted tribal barbarism or soulless corporate statism. There is a small crack of light in-between, the province of Reason and Liberty, that we must exploit and drive our wedge there with all the force and will that we have.

Security and Prosperity Partnership Of North America

I don't see anything that reduces our sovereignty in this group. Actually it seems to be an alternative to losing our sovereignty. Three countries with large borders cooperating on big issues is much different than becomming one big nation.

If you want to see the "loss of sovereignty" on a more micro scale, come to Los Angeles and scrutinize the on-going results of "open borders." We are evolving a polity here of illegal aliens, by illegal aliens, and for illegal aliens. The rest of us are here to genuflect to the tribal chieftains and pay the freight.

Don't believe for a second that this model isn't coming to a locality near you. It is. (In fact you can expect our Mayor to be one of the rising stars of the New America's political scene.) America's business class, unfortunately, believes in its ledgerbooks, not in the law. America is watching itself being undone by what got it here: businessmen and lawyers. The difference is the new breed don't care about their country very much so long as the price is right.

Look some more. You will see it eventually. Maybe not in this article. But it comes in increments. For example, in 1945, if someone told you that the United Nations would be trying to influence several nations to try and force the government of the United States to cede it's power to the United Nations (July 4th meeting on gun ban treaty) you would not have believed it back then.

One of the methods is to make entering the North American Alliance impossible until your nation signs on to the upcoming treaty.

Remember, the entire League of Nations was first rejected due to the gun issue. The League of Nations was later brought to us by the exact same people, but renamed as the United Nations.

You will see it. But it may be way too late by then.

Careful observers can easily triangulate the future goal of the CFR and its various other incarnations. We are well advised to start our resistance as early as possible.

If all of this is so benign let it be brought out into the open and actively discussed and debated.

Careful observers can easily triangulate the future goal of the CFR and its various other incarnations. We are well advised to start our resistance as early as possible.

Of course you and Ira are correct. The paranoia of over reaching government isn't tin foil hat talk but what is called eternal vigilance (the cost of freedom).

Personally, I see NOTHING wrong with "The United States Of North America".

As long as you realize, by this, I do not mean a NEW government similar to the EU. Rather, I mean, Mexico is invited to be the 51st state (unless it wishes its own 32 internal "states" to be individual US states.) Same goes for Canada (And I assume, the 3 territories and 10 provinces would prefer to be their own states as well). So we go from the 50 states we have now, to a total of 95!

Note, that means, they all are subject to the rules and specifically, Constitution, Bill of Rights, etc. as any of us existing US citizens.

What is the harm in this?

Yeah I don't see the problem either.

Face it the countries of the world are unifying with each other.

If we don't, then one day it will be the NWO vs the US some how I don't think we will win that one...

The best thing we can do is to start bringing other countries under OUR constitution.

Unifying with them is the start.

Evan Price and CC Wolf:

You say you don't see a problem if it isn't about a EU type alliance. It is EXACTLY that. Go to spp.gov and really read this stuff. (That is a Government web site by the way) What is even more frightening, is this is ALREADY DONE PAL.

Bush signed this "agreement" with Canda and Mexico already back in 2005.

How do you like the following jewel off that website about biometric "secure traveller designation" from a government that refuses to even think about securing our current border states, much less the entire continent.

(Keep in mind when reading this, they invision the auto itself carryng the "secure traveller" microchip in the inspection sticker for the Trans Texas Corridor scam our stupid voters wilsoon help bring about, by re-electing Rick Perry. All a bad guy has to do is steal the car for gods sake, but check this out)

President Bush, President Fox and Prime Minister Martin committed our countries on March 23, 2005, to:

“establish a common approach to security to protect North America from external threats, prevent and respond to threats within North American, and to further streamline the secure and efficient movement of legitimate, low risk traffic across our shared border.”

Our countries have made major advances since 9/11 in developing improved security policies, systems and processes. With our improved and expanding relations at all levels, we now have opportunities to further our common security goals in an evolving and strengthened North American relationship. Over the past three months, experts from the United States, Mexico and Canada have developed specific plans and objectives to meet these goals. These North American plans and objectives, once fully implemented by the bilateral and trilateral working groups now engaged, will bring transformational improvements to our common security goals, specifically:

I. Securing North America from External Threats

We have established plans to develop and implement comparable processes which produce consistent outcomes for screening individuals prior to departure and at first point of entry into North America, as well as to develop and implement compatible screening methods for goods and cargo prior to departure from a foreign port and at the first point of entry to North America. These strategies include commitments on:

• Biometrics and secure documentation vision. We will work to develop systems that prevent high-risk travelers from coming to North America, and facilitate legitimate travel to and within North America, by enhancing our ability to verify traveler identities.

• We will test technology and make recommendations, over the next 12 months, to enhance the use of biometrics in screening travelers destined to North America with a view to developing compatible biometric border and immigration systems.

• We will develop standards for lower-cost secure proof of status and nationality documents to facilitate cross-border travel, and work to achieve optimal production before January 1, 2008.

• We will devise a single, integrated global enrollment program for North American trusted traveler programs within the next 36 months.

Please re read my response: I would only be in favor if the governing laws of the new North American Alliance were those of the existing USA in total. No EU or UN Bull excrement. By that fact, the proposed situation you brought up is unacceptable. However the NWO types will try to force an EU style, UN chartered alliance that will supercede the US Constitution.... unacceptable.
If we made the USA into 95 states by granting the provinces & territories of Canada statehood, and the states of Mexico statehood, what's the problem with that, when compared to Hawaii or Alaska getting statehood?

Evan Price:

First, you have a big surprise waiting for you at www.spp.gov if you want to know the facts.

It is ALREADY agreed to. It was signed in 2005 by Bush, Fox, and Canadian Prime Minister Martin. It establishes a "partnership" agreement with those two countries effectively eliminating borders between the three countries, allowing for "trusted traveller" status for certain people travelling within the countries It also, does a whole lot more in conjunction with the NTO and the Trans Texas Corridor everyone blindly thinks is a "great idea".

It is a plot, to cede our sovereignty, and establish an EU type of government, with a new currency, and laws. All you need do, is read their own words, with an open mind. Keep in mind, you have to read it, it does not specifically say "we will change currency, and all laws" verbatim, but the intent is there, and so is the warning. It comes in increments, but they outline it for you.

We slept through it while worrying about being attacked from the outside. Instead, they got us by plotting within our own halls of government to take over.

Just like Nikita Kruschev promised, when he said "We will bury you from within".

We need to demand of our Congressmen, an impeachment proceeding take place as soon as possible. Then we need to demand that treatys such as this, when disguised as "agreements" which bypass Congress totally, are to be
held as treasonous. (Which it is)
