Hey guys the arthritis in my hands have been aggravating me During this case prep. just curious if anyone uses a specific tool or tools to chamfer and debur that would pop into a drill to make light work of it. Thanks in advance

If you get the Lee case holder for their trimming system, you can put the case in the drill and hold a conventional denburr/chamfer tool in your hand.

You'd need one of these shell holders for each cartridge.

You'd need just one of these for the lock stud as they would work with all the shell holders.

Or you could get one each of the following, a universal three jaw chuck and case spinner spindle for the chuck

Yeah I currently trim in a drill it’s just the chamfering/deburring. I was hoping to find something machined cheap that could work in a drill I have seen those fancy units and I bet they’re worth every bit of 120-130 dollars. Just looking for something a little more rudimentary aka cheaper haha

I was thinking something along the lines of this. This looks like a decent little drill chamfer but would need two pieces because I don’t see how one piece could do both and also hook to a drill

I have something similar and it's too big I think to fit in a drill. It may fit in a 1/2" chuck but I've never measured or tried. It's basically meant as a hand tool, and mine works well but hurts my hands in short order.

I just did another 25 and Y’all got me ready to spend it all. 120 dollars doesn’t sound so bad anymore

I picked mine up second hand for about $20 less than new. Turned out one of the gears was broken and when I called Hornady to buy a gear set they sent me one at no cost. I tried to pay and even explained I bought it used, but they still waranteed it.

Other brands are available but I haven't researched the price or reviews since I have this one. My hands (mostly my thumbs) still hurt a bit after 100 pieces of brass, and hurt a bit more after 200 pieces, but nothing close to when I used the hand tool. Do yourself a favor, you won't regret it.

Well 160 dollars later I’ve got a Lyman case prep xpress on the way. This will be a fun conversation with the wife :D thanks guys.

For a chamfer on the ID it's just a matter of a countersink wirh a hex shaft. But to get the OD cleaned up simply you'll have to get creative. I once used a 1/2" nut driver "drill bit" (a one piece socket with a 1/4" hex drive shaft) and I stuffed some coarse steel wool in the socket. Chucked in my hand drill I'd spin the socket and push a case against the steel wool and that would clean up the burrs on the case mouth...

I would lead it with a pleasant talk about shoes and purses, then ease into case prep.

I have extensive mileage with the L E Wilson chamfer/debur tool mounted in a Sinclair Case Mouth Deburring Tool Holder chucked in a cordless driver. Recommended. I slide a zip-tie over the driver's trigger to lock-in a consistent speed.

Just move to drill mounted cutter that does all 3, trim, chamfer, debur. There are several on the market. Then your done with just 1 cycle.

Thanks again guys I was needing to buy a swager anyway and I figured I’d have 60-80 bucks after taxes shipping and 2-3 tools later I figured whatever I’ll just automate it the fact that I could clean/lube/swager/chamfer/debur all in one swoop was worth it. I’ll definitely let you know how it goes and how many purses it ends up costing me

I picked up one of the Lyman case prep units on sale at Cabelas, very easy one hand operation.

For chamfering, I use a power screwdriver, a Lyman inside head and an outside head that screw into a power adapter thingy and slide it into the power screwdriver. Cheap as hell, works great and I love it.
