Hi all. I decided to change the furniture on my AR. I went to the gunshow here in town over the weekend and found an OD A2 stock and a railed forend. I had a 6pos stock on there but when I shoot it I only shoot it with it in the fully open position so the A2 works for me. The forend isnt anything special but it was a good price and I figured I could try it out and see if I like it. I painted the forend to match but its a bit off.

It matched pretty good but I put a clearcoat on it and it made it a bit brighter especially in the pictures. Its not actually that bright in person.
I went ahead and painted the stock aswell to make it match the forend.

Heres the final version with both the stock and handguard painted. The more I look at it the more I like it.
    What do you think?

Green, blue, red, white, black. Were you trying to make it match your blanket?

If you like the way it looks, great. That's all that matters.

Paint don't make it shoot any better or worse.

If it were me, I'd paint the pistol grip, too.

What kind of paint did you use? I know a lot of guys like to use Krylon, but I'd rather use something like Duracoat. It's more expensive, but it's more durable than Krylon, and it is available in a variety of tactical and non-tactical colors.

I had painted the emblems when I first got it. I didn't paint them at the same time.
I don't expect the paint to make it shoot better, it just changes it up from what I had. If I get tired of it I can just put my old stock and handguards back on.

Jsimmons- I used krylon. I didn't want to use anything special incase I didn't care for it so I wouldn't waste my money on the paint. Now that I know I like it I will most likely use something more durable on future projects.

Hey, it you like it that's what counts. I have considered painting mine a time or two. It don't make it shoot any straighter but it looks good so run with it.

You asked for opinions, so I'll offer mine. I think the blue/red stuff looks goofy.

Either all white, or no paint in the lettering, IMO. Maybe some olive green lettering to match the stocks would be cool.

Well I did the letter when I originally bought it. At the time it looked pretty good when the whole gun was black so changing it might be an option. Ive yet to figure out what else Im going to do with it so its still a work in progress though.

    You think that looks goofy?

I showed my kids how to clean my mags and them turned them loose with some empty mags.

After cleaning them, they used some crayons like they saw me experiment with once, long ago. Now all my glock mags have different colored engraved letters and numbers.

My favorite (read: "OMG, that is so gawdy?! WTH were you thinking, son!?") is one that alternates 1 thru 15 on the indicators between orange and blue, and the glock emblem is golden yellow. He's 7, and lord knows he just wanted to make 'ol Dad proud since I could now "See the numbers", so I just smiled and said "Great job, son!" Now that tacky mag makes me smile every time I pull it out of the range bag. Kids, you gotta love 'em... :)

Red, white, blue, black, and green?

Too many colors for a coherent color scheme. Sorry, not a fan.

ha haaa! That's great. I actually used white crayon to fill in the slide markings on my G23... looks pretty good if you like that sort of thing.

maybe I'll do the next one in rainbow. :D

I'll try to post pics when I get home. They have figured out since then that you can remove the crayon with a toothpick...so that yellow glock emblem may be white again. The glock isn't winning any beauty contests, so after an shooting and a cleaning session I let them color those whatever color they want. If they start taking spray paint to the work bench, I'm drawing the line. :scrutiny: I can hear it now: "But D-a-a-a-a-d, pink is for breast cancer awareness, don't u care???"

MY.. "opinion, it looks awful.... no offence.
the lower looks like an airsoft gun with the paint.
the stock and rail dont match.
    and the grip is black.
If I were you I'd buy some duracoat and have the entire thing painted in a coyote tan and call it a day.
I get sick of all black too.
but black is better than ugly.
    but good gun.. funtion wise..

I'm digging the green stock and forearm. Not too crazy about the red and blue though.
