Changes at BATF?

Since the change of adminstrations, has there been any changes at the top level of BATF? Does the director need Congressional approval?

Don't recall where, but I saw some comment today about an acting director, there. So, some sort of change is coming.

Maybe President Trump is waiting to see where this goes before he appoint an ATF Director.

The ATF is a branch of the U.S. Department of Justice. The Director does need Senate approval. Fourth paragraph.

No on one
Yes on two.

The ATF is (now) part of the Department of Justice and the proposed Trump budget doesn't significantly cut it's funding, so don't expect any significant changes at ATF. Also, Trump's Executive Order requiring that two regulations be repealed for each one promulgated means that you can expect very little to change at ATF.

Also note that should things like the HPA become law, it will require the promulgation of regulations in order to be implemented. Of course, if the ATF has to repeal other regulations in order to promulgate the regulations needed to implement the HPA, the HPA could be delayed indefinitely even if it is enacted.
