Looking for what other people use, this is probably a High-Moderate load.

Currently using BE-86 for my 44 mag with xtreme CPFP 240gr using 11.3 grain, probably dropping to 11.0. This is my high end load, yeah, yeah, some of you guys will laugh and talk about your real full house loads. Normal shooting at targets, this is my high load end for that.

Below are the powders I have seen on the shelf or I already have

H110
Looking at the Hodgon Load manual, it appears that H110 only does jacketed loads? Seems like this would be for loading hunting bullets.

IMR 4227
I don't see a low in load for it in the Hodgon load page, the high load is
22.0C (what does the C mean?), so I assume the low load would be 19.8gr. Looking at the velocity, I may be able to use a 20gr IMR load.

Unique
Based on the Alliant online manual, I think 10-10.5 might work.

Titegroup
Wide range on the titegroup, I use it for light 44spl loads for my wife. Hodgons shows 4.7 - 10.0gr for lead. The jacketed go from 9-10, so I'm thinking a starting load of 9.0 would be good.

It appears either Titegroup or Unique would be the best here.

I would focus on powders from the Unique to Blue Dot burn rate for what you want to do. Any brand of powder will work fine.

"C" means it is a compressed load

-H110 can only be loaded hot and only w/magnum primers
-4227 also likes to be loaded at top end or it leaves unburned powder
-I would not (and do not) use Titegroup...a double charge will easily fit in the case
-Unique at 10gr with 240gr lead is a classic range load, and will be similar to the BE86 load you've been using...maybe a little less warm

That much Unique is too stout for me. Just under 1000 fps with minimal leading.
I like 8gr of Unique with a 240 hardcast bullet.
IMO 4227 is too slow for this.

10 grains of unique is all I can run in my Marlin 44mag using 240 grain Berrys plated bullets. Any higher and the plating starts to fail.

i use alliant power pistol for all handgun cartridges, seems to be very versatile and produce high velocities in just about anything

Your powder choice depends strongly on what you want out of the load.
For full tilt boogie magnum loads with jacketed bullets, use the listed charge
of H110/W296. Meters well, burns clean, and gives true magnum performance.

AA9 and 2400 will get close (very) to that performance level but do not require magnum primers and can be downloaded.

Below that performance level faster powders in the Unique burn rate range can be used.

Trail Boss with 240 grain cast bullets makes a nice mouse fart load.
