I recently got a S&W 915. Even the though it has a white-dot front sight, the rear sight is plain. I'd like to install a white-dot rear sight, and I've read that the rear sight of the S&W 910 is compatible. Can someone confirm this? If it is, what do I need to know to swap the sights? Does the sight just drift out with a punch? If so, does it go left-right or right-left? Thanks!

(BTW, I also posted this question in the Gunsmithing section)

Drift out left - right. Drift on right - left. There are two springs under the rear sight to watch out for. I had a 915 at one time and did not care too much for the rear sight myself. Although a 910 sight may work, I have my doubts. While the dovetail may be the same size, there are differences in slide contour between the 910 and 915 due to the level of machining done on them - the 910 has a blocky contour and the 915 is more rounded. If you have any intrest at all in night sights, the only aftermarket drop-in choice you have is the Trijicon SA04. I had these sights installed on my pre-Novak sighted S&W 3904 and 3906 and find them to be a vast improvement over the factory sights (the 915 rear sight is essentially a pre-Novak 3rd generation sight without the dots painted on it).

Here is a pic to give you an idea of what the Trijicons look like -

Thanks! I have found a few other things today that have made me question compatibility with the 910's rear sight. I also found the Trijicon sights you mention, and I am impressed with them. That may be my best route. Does anyone know any on-line vendors who install Trijicons if you send them your slide?
