Charles Daly 1911A FSB.

I just brought home a used Charles Daly 1911A .45. FSB. Came with box and two mags. Condition is like new. I think is was made in 1996 as that is the date of the test fire. Philippines made. No wear, scratches or other visible signs of use. Barrel is clean and bright. Locks up tight, no wiggles or jiggles. Now comes the question. $450.00. Price seemed right, what do ya'll think!

Of course Range time will be the best test.

What's an FSB model? I have the EFS model, bought new a long time ago. Overpaid back then but it is my first gun and I still like it.

I had one of those once. Got it used, was just a little loose but it functioned flawlessly and was spot on accurate.

True, but its pretty much like any other 1911 and replacement parts are not hard to find and fit. The folks at RIA/Armscor would probably do their best to make it right if you have issues.

Nobody worries about this issue on a Norinco, and as out of the box, my CD EMS is a way better shooter than my Norinco.

I have a blued EFS (I think) that I bought used about 5 years ago for $200. I replaced some parts with Wilson Combat stuff, and it functions pretty much perfectly. The origional mags have cracks in the back of the feed lips, so I just ordered 3 new Wilson Combat mags. This pistol is about the most accurate pistol I have. 2nd is the Browning High Power Practical, followed by the Glocks.

I've had mine for over a year. Picked it up in a trade, at a gun show.
I had to replace the mags right away, as they were crap. But since then it's been 100%. It is in carry rotation, and serves as a nightstand gun.
The only things I did to it other then getting good mags, is to replace the grips with slim Alumagrips. And removed the ambi safety, and install a Wilson Combat thumb safety.

Markallen Thats a nice looking shooter. I like those grips alot! If I ever buil a "show" 1911 I will be getting those grips. I just prefer the Hogue wrap around for recoil control.

I had a CD EFB bought new in 1997. I remember it being a beautiful gun. Unfortunately it was a time before I knew about replacing magazines. It was extremely unreliable, even with ball ammo. The grip safety broke at about 250 rounds.

I traded it in on a Sigma(I know, I know). Anyhow it was a great deal, I paid $425 at Cost+10% Gun Shop in Austin. I think the newer Armscor are of higher quality as there are a number of inexpensive options out there. I think the older CD's were better finished.

At $450 I think you did good at today's prices. Hard to get below that no matter the quality.

It's funny how comments about the pistol are relatively good now. When I bought it, it was generally considered below average and junk. I always waited for my CD to break but it never has. I remember being really disheartened by a poll back in 2004:

Great buy, good pistols 7 12.96%
Waste of money, they're pieces of junk 14 25.93%
Worth the price but don't expect much 21 38.89%
There are better 1911s for teh price. 12

I expect I'll be waiting for my CD to fall apart for a while longer.
