Charles Daly and Armscor 1911'S

If you have ever owned Armscor(Rock Island Armory) pistols, and Twigfield at the same time, you would only buy the Rock.
I had ONE outta 4 Springfields that was worth it's salt. I LOVE my Rock Island. When you call Ivan down in Nevada he is a pleasure to talk to, and gives straight answers. Not so much with Springfield.
With Rock's being $300, for a wide body currently, DEFINITLY buy the Rock.

As SureThing said, ARMSCOR currently makes the CHARLES DALY 1911s (they are the SAME gun)... but they are spliting ways! CD will be announcing sometime this Fall who will be their new manufacturer (rumor has it to be BUL from Israel) but nothing has been announced yet.
Have never owned either but several shooter-friends speak well of the RIA and its value ($350) and their excellent CS for repairs and warranty work. As was mentioned, if you have a couple extra $$'s SPRINGFIELD ARMORY's (GIs, Mil-Spec) are excellent 1911s but in the $450-550 range.

I like the CD frame that I've mounted my ciener conversion on. I sold the top half to a guy on this forum that says it's giving him good groups. It seems like a good piece of metal shaped like it's supposed to be.

Charles Daly LIFETIME WARRANTY BUT I think Taurus would be better still. But both Charles Daly and armscor make well built guns you can't go wrong.

I think I read somewhere (forum.m1911.org) that the RIA/Armscor guys in Nevada will work warranty issues on Charles Daly pistols.

Rock Island Armory

At around $400. how can you go wrong...it works every time too:D

Doublestar (the AR guys) is making 1911's now as well, FWIW. I have no dealings with them however, and can't comment about them.

For that kind of money though, I'd be scouring the boards for a nice Norinco 1911. They were GREAT 1911's for the money, and a good place to start builds on.

I have been shooting 1911's for nearly 40 years. I have 2 now, both are Dalys, made by Armscor. I have no plans to buy any other 1911's except those made by Armscor. They are great functioning, accurate, reliable pistols at a good price. My 2 cost less than one of most other brands, and are equal or better than anything else I have shot.

New CD's will be made by Bul in Israel, IIRC.

I like my two RIA 1911's also:
