Does anyone know of any other magazines that will work in this gun? I just bought one from SOG for $270, but would like a couple of extra mags. Daly is sold out of the extended base mags and want 32.00 for their regulars. Are there any cheaper options here?

Thanks

I tried them and they do not have any.... sold out of both. Seems like it would share a platform with something else.... I'm just fishing for information.

Thanks,
Chris

I also have a Daly. I got lucky and grabbed up some mags while they were around. I'm pretty sure the internals are from witness pistols. Here's their polymer which looks a lot like the daly. http://www.eaacorp.com/firearms/pistols/witnesspoly/witnesspcompe.shtml whether the mags would interchange I don't know. If you look at parts on their website they show a full size mag with a grip extender for the polymer compact. Now if it would work I don't know that either. Another thing the mags look alot like para double stack mags so maybe that is another direction you could go. Good luck. Mark

Well I took the DDA out to the range today to shoot some bowling pins. It was a blast, first time I'd ever done that, great fun, this shooting stuff up. The gun was easy to shoot, I just need a 14 round mag.

I ended up calling SOG back tonight and buying another one. I know crack smoker, but at $270 load the pipe.

Here is a little that I've learned and surmised from reading hear and thefiringline.com.

The DDA is made by Bul Transmark in Isreal. Imported and branded Charles Daly but discontinued by Charles Daly.

Bul is still making a gun that looks identical to the DDA called a BUL Impact.

This is the Witness and looks pretty close to me....

Bul Transmark also makes the lower polymer frame for the Kimber Polymer. And rumor has it that the Bul Uppers are provided by Kimber. Anyone know this for a fact?

Now the question I have is what parts are interchangeable? Does anyone have two of the following a DDA, a Kimber Polymer, a Bul Impact, a Witness Polymer. If so, do the magazines interchange? If not I may try to scrounge up a Witness Mag and see if it works.

I wonder if cal. swapping kits would interchange......

Paraordinance makes a 14 round .45 mag dont they..... that would be sooo sweet. I'll try calling some gun stores around here and see if anyone has one.....

Directly from BUL

Here is the email I received from BUL when I inquired about Mags...

"Thank you for your email and compliments. Always a pleasure to hear from a satisfied customer.
The Impact (DDA) has not been discontinued from production, only it is no longer imported to the USA. This is because it did not sell as well as we had hoped, being more expensive than some of the competing brands on the market. CD decided not to continue importation, and we have focused more on our 1911 models for the US market.
as for long mags - you could contact Kimber and buy a hi-cap mag for their polymer frame.. those 14 rd mags will lock in just fine to your DDA pistol - although of course will stick out the bottom somewhat... We built that frame around the same mags that our Hi cap 1911's use, so the kimber ( which is our frame) will offer you a mag solution. Good luck with your shooting!"

I found this on the 1911forums.com: very interesting......

BUL M5 info straight from BUL

I can finally put an end to speculation about whether the BUL M5 and Kimber Poly are the same gun. YES! I had e-mailed Saul Kirsh who is the General Mgr of BUL in Israel with several questions about the BUL, here are the answers direct from Saul:

Yes-The guns are the same...BUL and Kimber DO HAVE a reciprocal parts agreement, Kimber gets frames, BUL gets slides, barrels etc.

Yes-BUL guns are no longer available in the USA do to an agreement with Kimber.

So there you go. If you are contemplating picking up a BUL, you now can do so with the knowledge that it is in fact, the EXCACT same gun as the Kimber. I would suggest you not wait either, When it's gone, it's gone.(I'm speaking about NEW BUL's of course)

Hope this ends any confusion.

sti svi magazines

In my reading on the 1911forum, I also ran into some other referances to the STI and SVI magazines working in the BUL framed guns.

Interesting Stuff.

Kimber Hi-Caps

FYI - I got the two Kimber Polymer Hi Cap magazines in and they insert and drop from the gun correctly, however.... the slide catch is different on the BUL Impact than the Kimber. The kimber slide catch is lower and therefore does not catch the slide when the magazine is empty.

I think I'll try a para next.
