So last year I bought a Charter Professional 32 Mag. After two trips to the factory it still shoots low so it’s just been sitting for something like 10 months. After another poster was having problems with his I decided to email their stock customer service email address. I told them I was still having issues and a few days later (today), they called me.

I spoke with two very nice ladies, one named Donna, and one named Britney. I explained that I didn’t really want to send it back in, as the way they were repairing them still left a sight picture that wouldn’t work for me. I asked if I could swap it out for another model and Britney said she didn’t know if she could do that and said she would transfer me to Nick. I am uncertain who this Nick was, but I presume it was the president of the company. I explained my situation and he said no problem, I can swap it out for whatever gun I want. They emailed me a label to ship mine in, which I will do Monday. I am going to see if I can pay extra to have one of their aluminum framed 6 shot 32 Magnums in something other than pink or lavender.

Long story short, they have more than lived up to their reputation for excellent customer service, and I am most pleased with the outcome. I wanted to post what a great experience it was. I can say without hesitation, if you are considering a Charter, go for it. If something goes wrong, they will take care of you.

I'm very glad to hear someone with a positive experience. Reading things on the innerwebz one would assume there isn't a manufacturer around any more that cares about their customers.
The CA Professional is a special kind of problem, but face it, every manufacturer of firearms has produced a bad design at one point or another.
The important thing is that they made things right for you. I'm glad to hear that you will still buy their products and encourage others to as well.
I only own 2 CA revolvers but would not hesitate to buy another if I saw one I liked.
I was really hoping the Professional would get worked out, and maybe it still will.

Haven't had any issues with my Bulldog, but nice to know CA is a very customer centric company. Seems like a lost trait when so many companies' sole goal is pleasing share holders at any cost.

Thanks for sharing your experience OP

I’m torn between the two tone off duty 38, a bulldog 44, or a 6 shot 32. If they had the aluminum framed 32 in anything other than pink and purple I’d go for that. I just don’t have any dresses that would match it!

I like the fact we are all on a first name basis so to speak with these people. Where else can you get a response from the CEO on a weekend? Or get Britney Nurse to call you with shipping info and you know who she is? Pretty cool. Everyone’s got QC and some CS issues but these folks really seem to care. Unlike Colt.

If you're a reloader, I like the Bulldog. It is cheap to feed and a breeze to carry. And a blast to shoot.

But you can't go wrong with any of your choices.

Be well

their customer service is pretty good, their quality control is so so.

That's awesome to hear. They have a .44 Bulldog at the LGS that I have been thinking about. Your CS post has nearly sent me over the edge. Might need to add one to the stable next week.

I can’t find it at the website. If I go off duty it’ll be two tone. I can’t decide between the high polish or the matte finish.

Just saw a few online .. I asked Mr Ecker if they were gonna use the new aluminum Bulldog frame on any other calibers ? Answer, not at this time ...
It most likely be similar to size and weight of the Taurus 856UL
I like the Off Duty Black frame , high polished barrel and cylinder,, myself

There was a thread recently where someone had figured out where to hold the sight picture to get their Professional to hit POA. I tried it with mine and it turns out that the BOTTOM of the fiber optic rod has to be level with the top of the rear sight to get it to hit POA. The whole time I've owned it I've been burying the front sight too deep trying to align the TOP of the front sight with the top of the rear.

It's all still due to the barrel being oversize and the front sight being too tall, but now that I've found a way to get it shooting well, I'll keep it and just mentally learn it's the only gun I have to aim differently to get to hit POA.

I didn't know Charter was making the Undercoverette in 6 shot now. I still wouldn't choose it over a .327 LCR tho.

Thanks @SteadyD for your post . I always thought about trying a CA and your comments makes it easier to purchase one. Customer service equals customer satisfaction!

I wish they still made their 41 magnum. I would go with the 44 special.

Thanks again for your post!

Ten years ago when wife's father died we found a old Charter Arms, 3 inch, Undercover 38 in his stuff. Old, tired, sad, and dirty, with a lot of holster wear and cracked grip.
She claimed it and I cleaned it up.
Called Charter and said can y'all check out?
Nice lady said sure, send it in. I did and one of the gunsmith called me and said, he would like to replace some innards, touch up the blue, and put bigger rubber grips on it. Cost to me -$75 bucks I said sure.
Ten days later they called and gave me tracking number. I got it back and it was fantastic.
It still is her EDC, and she is good with it!
Yes, Charter Arms is good people.

Yep .. that's Charter ... but .. during this gun buying frenzy.. its not quite like that .. My new Charter Bulldog was sent in .. for a canted barrel, came back 5 weeks later . Straight barrel .. but the cylinder dragging the frame ... after convincing them it wasn’t normal for a new unfired revolver to have this problem.. I was told it would be 8 weeks or longer to get it repaired... and its been 5 weeks so far ..
So a new revolver has been total 10 weeks in the shop and two trips back to the mother ship ....

But .. I can actually talk to friendly people, email the President of the company...

Also I put a new Charter Off duty in layaway last week .... so Im still a Charter guy ...
But my suggestion is to wait a while before sending a revolver in for repair... unless its a emergency

I neglected to post an update. I selected the two tone off duty and it’s a very attractive finish. I’ve not taken it to the range yet, and given how light it is, I may well stick to standard pressure ammunition and wadcutters. The grip is a very recent offering from Charter and it feels very comfortable in the hand.

Excellent choice! If I were in the market for a new Charter Arms anything, that's the one I would pick!

Here is the fix for your CA Professional.

I know you already got your revolver but I wanted to give you the link for the 6 shot 20oz .38 Spl. revolver
https://charterfirearms.com/collections/undercover/products/73840-police-undercover

There is also an 18oz 6 shot that is so new there isn't a photo or full description of it. I don't know what the differences are or why it's 2oz lighter but we will find out eventually. lol

I like the revolver you chose, very nice.

I have that grip for my Bulldog, it’s a good feeling grip and does a good job at taming recoil. Good luck, the two time is very nice.
