I posted here about three weeks ago. I purchased a new Charter Arms Pathfinder .22 LR revolver with the 2 inch barrel in stainless steel in the beginning of February 2008. At the range, I found that the revolver shot about six inches low. I tried three types of ammunition but no change.

I contacted Dee Ecker at Charter 2000 and she told me that I could file the front sight down or send it to Charter 2000 and they would do the work. I sent it in on Feb. 19, 2008. Dee told me that the gun did not have to be sent overnight.

Unfortunately I asked my wife to ship it from the UPS customer service center. They told her that it was their policy that it must be sent overnight. They charged her $ 41.77 (includes a fuel surcharge). I have already complained to UPS. Whatever you do, do not ship firearms by UPS! Charter 2000 paid the return shipping charge and it was only $ 8.15.

I got the gun back on March 8, 2008. It came with three test targets. The service technician took quite a bit of metal off the front sight. I am glad I sent it in. I would not have had the confidence to take off that much metal. The work was smooth and even, very high quality. The revolver definitely shoots to point of aim now.

The service was quick (18 days including shipping time) and good quality. They even cleaned the revolver after test firing it. I am very pleased!

That's good to hear. Charter Arms has suffered from a bad reputation gained during the Charco days, it would be nice to see them turn some things around.

Nope. They're different companies. Charter Arms is based in Shelton, CT. Hi-Point is based in Dayton, OH.

We mere mortals that do not have an FFL must ship UPS/FEDEX overnight and that is just the way it is. FFLs are allowed to use the postal service and I have my FFL ship my stuff for me as it saves a ton of money. There have been a lot of threads on this lately but the bottom line is: no FFL no USPS...

from what ive seen they have great customer service, but they just need to work on their out-of-the-box quality. All my buddies who own charter arms have had problems with them but they all have also gotten sent back to the factory and fixed quickly and inexpensively.

MKS Supply is the parent company of Hi-Point, Charter, and Chaparral Arms.

Charter does seem to have improved their initial QC some since being acquired by MKS Supply...way better than "Charco"
