Last year, while working on a western history show, a wizened old horse wrangler made a special gift to me. He gave me an old leather gunbelt he found in a tack shop. He had turned down offer after offer from actors, stuntmen, and other people to buy this belt, but decided to just give it to me for free. Hes a good friend and one of the greatest people I got to meet during my film career. That gunbelt is a wonderful souvenir and a cherished part of my collection. Hopefully, it will go with me on many more film locations and serve me for the longevity of my future in film.

However, I have one small problem. I DONT HAVE A GUN THAT FITS IT!! LOL! :banghead:

The belt loops hold .38spcl/.357mag and I don't own a single "Old West" style revolver in that caliber. My blackpowder pistols would look a bit odd in a gunbelt for cartridges and my Ruger Single Six is both the wrong caliber and barrel length.

So, I need to find a brand new .38/.357 revolver that has the style of the Single Action Army or a comparable revolver you would see in a western film.

I believe a Single Action Army clone with a 5.5 - 6.5inch barrel would be perfect. The pistol I use will be used in films only. It will NEVER fire a live round, only blanks. I'm not looking for a nail driver. I just need a pistola that won't break into tiny pieces and looks good in the hand. I am not going to even bother with a blank gun. They are VERY poorly made and are unreliable. Also, I can load my own .38spcl blanks. A real gun would have so much better looks, weight, and performance.

Anybody out there know of a cheap brand? Or a dealer that sells reasonable pistol? I'm open to suggestions if anybody out there on the interwebz thinks another model would be better.

Here are some more pics of my holster with my Ruger, just to help illustrate the scale of the holster.

Or a Uberti 'Bisley' Model, in .38 Special/357...

Don't bother with anything less...especially since the Leather itself already has meaning you may wish to respect.

Ruger New Vaquero. I had a choice between the Vaquero and a New Model Blackhawk and the Vaquero just felt right in my hand.

It matches the Colt SAA in size too.

A Uberti Millenium is about the least expensive name brand single action I know of.
It has brass grip straps and a flat black finish to hold the cost down.
Unfortunately, the .357s cost more than the .45s, but that is what you are stuck with buying the gun to match the rig.

Go shop:

www.cdnnsports.com

They have some great deals on discounted single action revolvers, but you'll likely have to call their 800 number to get current prices. I believe the prices start in the middle/upper $200 range and go up.

I still like the Ruger revolver's but the new plastic grips make me:barf: Great gun but they look much better with wood grips.
