In defense of my Single Action choice......

Back in the seventies I bought, in a hardware store in Carlinville, IL a Ruger Single Six 22LR/22 Magnum. It probably cost less than two hundred bucks. It was the first single action I'd ever owned. I remember being impressed by its build quality, fit, finish, etc., and the smallish grip that amazingly seemed to fit everyone's hand. After working as an LEO shooting the Ruger was an enjoyable change of pace. And I don't think I've ever shot with a better gun since because it was pinpoint accurate and I can't recall what sort of sights it had. No matter, I could hit a beer can more often than not at 50 yards.

Reading this thread has prompted me to look for another one, but this time I think I'll get one chambered in .357 magnum to go with my Rossi M92 lever rifle.

I want to thank all of you for tweaking my memory, and out here in Arizona I can carry it any damn way I care to.

Hell, if we get open carry in this state, I'll load my cap and ball '58 remmy reproduction for open carry. Tote what you want.

Yeah, and get arrested and have to make bail and retain a lawyer and wait 6 months to a year before having it thrown out and be out lots of money in the process.

I'll let YOU be the ghinea pig. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse for me, but an LEO can be breathing methane and I can't do squat about it. "Tell it to the judge" is the refrain. Meanwhile, you're cuffed and stuffed.

Have you ever heard the expression 'big hat, no cattle'? I'll probably be wearing my 1860 in the next few days while I inspect a rental property I own that the tenant skipped out on, that had several large dogs on the premises last I heard from them. Judging by your reaction to a legal, useful method of carrying a weapon, I imagine you really have no reason to open carry but I'm sure you have a very nice hat.

Well I'm sure that whoever pops off an adversary with a C&B revolver will get plenty of space in the national news - especially if it happens in Texas.
