Cheap 7.62xx54R

is there any semi auto rifle that shoots 7.62x54r thats not some 3000 dollar "sniper" rifle? something for a reasonable price, or better yet, a mosin price?

i searched and couldnt find much. i mean i can get this ammo soo cheap, i wanted a cheap semi auto to shoot it. i wish saiga made one, but they make a 7.62x51 so why would they bother.

I'm not really aware of anything cheaper or more common than the PSL/Romak III, which seems to run around $750 with scope. I'm pretty certain that there's no semiautomatic 7.62x54R rifle commonly available for $99 out the door anywhere.

lol, ok 99 would be a little optimistic.

buy maybe the same price as an ak and id be all over one.

i would buy a .50BMG before a Dragunov.

Well, someone on the board snagged a PSL with all the accessories for under $600 recently, I remember the thread. It's really a big RPK sized AK rather than a Dragunov action/gas system. But if you hate it, I'm not sure what your options are besides hunting for an SVT-38 or SVT-40.

PSL isnt a draganov. its closer to an AK than a SVD.

SVT 40's fire 7.62x54.

i would buy a .50BMG before a Dragunov.

You used to be able to find the big SVT Tokarevs for a fairly reasonable price. The good ones fetch $800 or more now, though you can still find parts guns or hack jobs for less. PSL's are the cheapest ones and are arguably more reliable than the SVT's. PSL prices are variable. You can find some for $700 or even $600, then see another for over a grand. Part of the problem is the confusion people have between PSL's (which are just huge AK's) and the SVD's. And fear of another AWB is another factor. Also, importers dumping new batches on the market has an impact

With all of them, you have to avoid feeding them too much of the 180 or 200 grain Mosin slugs. They were designed to work with the light ball.

I paid around $600 for my FPK 2 years ago when SOG had them.
Paid $100 extra for the Paratrooper 18" barrel.
Basically an AK on steroids.

I've wanted a semi in x54r since I got my first M44 in 2000.



I like mine better than the longer ones.
