Anybody try the Fiochhi ammo from AIM? It's about 9.25 a box and I work close to there.

Fiocchi is great ammo but the shipping from AIM is a deal breaker for me. For 2k rounds they want $40 shipping. No thanks.

cheap 45 s

I do not know if it is extremely cheap but you might try The Hunting Shack"
at 406-777-2106. Talk to Darren. We pick ours up at the Tulsa gun show--also he runs a truck through our state once or twice a year.
I use it--like it--

Appreciate the input HighVelocity, but since I have been visiting AIM frequently, shipping is not an issue. How does it compare to WWB or UMC?
-jagdpanzer.

Out of all the practice ammo I've tried, WWB, Blazer, Blazer brass, S&B, Speer Lawman, etc. The Fiocchi is as good or better than all of them. It's clean, accurate, reliable and consistant. If you can walk into AIM and get that price over the counter then you should buy all you can afford.

Blazer for non - reloading
Fiocchi for reloading.

Speer Rubber Bullets. For pure-dee Fun Factor!

Wet, cold , windy ...find a barn or get a buddy to allow shooting in his warehouse.

Great practice, just get a box/ trap to find them suckers and use again...:)

If you are a club memeber at Sportsman Guide, you can 1000 rounds of Fiocchi at less than $8.55 a box ($170.97).

http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=244477

Then you can tag on a $15 coupon, reducing it to $155.97, making it less than $7.80 a box. You can get the coupon here:

http://www.sportsmansguide.com/section/section.asp?s=2993#top

You could also go cheaper still, and this is an especially good offer if you are NOT a club member. They have this stuff (http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=233180) 1000 rounds for $149.97. This means, by $0.97, you can still qualify to use that $15 coupon, and bring it down to 134.97, or less than $6.75/box--NOBODY beats that. How good it is, however, I don't know (Fiocchi, on the other hand, is excellent). It is "American Ammunition" (or "A-Merc")

Yes, you will have to pay shipping, but you do not have to pay sales tax unless you are in their home state of Minnesota, so that saving alone pays half the shipping.

I just got an email from sportsmans guide telling me the 45acp Fiocchi is on backorder until approx 3/15. :banghead:

Bummer--mine is due in tomorrow. But I'm on back order for Wolf buckshot, so I know how you feel.

99% of my 9mm and .45 ammo is WWB and CCI Blazer. I have gotten good results from both, and Academy carries them for dirt cheap.

I'm another one that says get into reloading.
Not counting the brass, which is use over and over, here's the break down of my practice load.

200 grain Rucker Brand SWC lead bullets= 4 cents
Powder= 1.2 cents
Primer= 1.4 cents
50 rounds= $3.30

Using an old Dillon press I average a finished bullet every 7 seconds, meaning I load a box of 45ACP in about 6 minutes.

The only way to go if you do a lot of shooting.:)

I already ordered 500 Wolf brand .45 ACP rounds, sorry. And besides, I can't reload right now. I don't have the resources.

www.natchezss.com usually has pretty good prices on 45acp Blazer. I picked up a bunch recently for $7.89 a box.

that's my deal I buy 1000 per order

in fact we get together at work and place very large orders and the shipping seem to get better

never had a problem with CCI Blazer

If you can get Wolf ammo to feed reliably and not break something in your weapon, go for it! I have not had any problems with Wolf 45acp ammo. I have had a lot of problems with Wolf 40 S&W.

Never heard of these. Where do you get them?

I don't have a box handy so I don't know where the "Rucker Bullet" manufacturer is located.
I usually buy 500-2,000 bullets from a regular ammo dealer at the Dallas gun show. I must have 10,000 to 20,000 bullets stocked now.:D
Check your local ammo and reloading supply dealers to see if they have the brand.

They are excellent cast bullets. That dealer has been selling the 500 count box of 200gr SWC 45ACP bullets for $17-$18.

I haven't used ANY bullet that is more accurate.
For instance, this target isn't outstanding, but for inexpensive plinking ammo it ain't bad.
(I had given a friend a EAA Whitness Compact and wanted to show him that the pistol shoots pretty well:) )

8x11 inch target.

Rucker is out of..lemme check my box of .358/158gr/LSWC...Terrell Texas.

I have no idea how Rucker ranks vs other cast bullets, as they are prety much all I se in the local gun stores.

I loaded thousands of Houston cast bullets before running across Rucker. Houston wasn't bad but the quality control and hardness wasn't as good as Rucker. Houston also gives me some leading but I probably don't have more than a few thousand rounds left.

Yeah and that stuff is as hot as FMJ's get too! I can get some Remington 100pks for $15 here.

Kalifornians can get Cal Ammo reloads for $35 for 5 bags of 50 at Turner's. That's the best price on retail .45 that I've ever seen.

Thanks for the info on Rucker. Sound like good stuff, but since they're in Texas I'll have to pass. It doesn't seem right, but I have to pass up businesses in my home state because paying sales tax as well as shipping always makes them less competitive with the out-of-state businesses.

I'll bet you can find the brand at the Houston gun show.:)
