Dan's Ammo refinished P6's

I just noticed today that Dan's now has P6's that have been professionally refinished for $299.00.

Includes extra magazine, mag pouch, holster, cleaning kit.
Some sort of Shake & Bake finish with molybdenum disulfide.

Mine has been good enough to cycle everything loaded into it. Once upon a time I mixed up a bowl of 9mm which included modern defense ammunition, snap caps, ball of several varieties, some truly ancient hollowpoints I bought just for testing the gun, even spent casings. Everything loaded and extracted without a problem.

A SIG P-6 will probably be a reliable, solid handgun.
But make sure your dad is OK with only two magazines because everywhere I've checked they're completely out of extras and Promags are known to be suitable only as paperweights and for recycling.

I bought a Sig P225-9-B new w. 2 mags for $500 at a Miami gun show in March 2002. I still have it, along with a High Noon holster and several spare MecGar mags that I purchased several years ago. At the range it's proven reliable and accurate. It fits my hand better than the P228, which I also have.

ProMags are junk. I bought two of them because there isn't anything else available. I filled and emptied each of them 3 times at the range with WWB and they never failed. I would never buy another one because no matter what I tried, they fed every single round just like the factory mags did. The only thing I could find different between the ProMags and the factory mag is that the ProMag has a much nicer finger rest/butt plate than the factory mag. ProMag also had the nerve to number each of the holes on the side of the mag so you can tell how many rounds are in them. I wouldn't want to use the ProMags in a defense situation...it just wouldn't be sporting without a feed failure.

I bought a couple of these.

and I love em. my main one was born on 8/83 and is in GREAT shape Just minor finish wear.

A few months ago, I was at Tanner and I bought every P6/225 mag I could find. Even got a stainless one. I carry this gun occasionally.

I did the same thing as others. I mixed a bowl of random ammo and it shot everything well, except some really long hollow point that I had a few of.

I love em and for the price, they cannot be beat...

wait....so blkbrd666, are you saying that promags ARE junk, or that they are NOT junk? the only reason why i'd have my dad get extra pro mags would be so we arent stuffing rounds with our thumbs all the time at the range, they probably would never be heavily relied on. we dont plan on getting in any gunfights anytime soon, but if the occasion would arrise, the two stock sig clips would be grabbed first.

ProMags, if they function OK, would probably be OK for range mags, I personally grew to hate my ProMags for my P220 and sold them all off to buy factory SIG mags. Since that was a P220, they are available.

For my P6, I am waiting for Mecgar mags since I heard they are reviving production of them (they make Sig mags for them).
