Hey everybody!

I have a friend (well, family member actually) that just bought herself a Sig Sauer P6 (one of the German LE trade-ins) two days ago. After taking her to the range with 300 rounds and only one mag (8-rd), it's obvious that the next thing to do is buy more mags (no fun reloading that many times).

Factory Sig P6/P225 mags are running ~$60. I found mags by ProMag at AIM Surplus (http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/ProMag_Sig_Sauer_P225_P6_8rd_Magazine.html) for $17.95. Are the ProMags as reliable as the factory mags, or should the premium be paid for the Sig mags?

Thanks in advance for any help.

From what I've read about the P6 Promags and my experience with the Promags for other weapons I would save my money. Promags are usually junk. I bought two for a Firestar 45 that didn't fit right, the feed angle was totally wrong and they didn't feed worth a crap. I've read on the forums from others that bought the Promags for the P6 that they didn't work well at all.

I tried the promag with poor results. The mag catch was out of spec, and the feed lips were misshapen.

YMMV

Now I will parrot the rumor that Mecgar is going to do a run of P6/225 magazines in the near future.

Please continue rampant speculation. :)

I heartily concur...stay away from the Promags! They are g-a-r-b-a-g-e.

BTW, mind if I ask how much she paid for the P6?

Thanks guys, this is exactly what I wanted to hear. Looks like the Sig mags are the only way to go then. Now if only I could find an internet site that sells them (besides auction sites)....

To Creature: I believe the Sig was had for $325. Not too bad, and no holster wear unlike many of the other P6s I've seen (VERY clean inside and out). Ran flawlessly at the range BTW (No FTF, FTE, stovepipes, or other jams/stoppages of any kind).

Thanks for the help guys.

Creature P6

.......just picked a P6 up today from my FFL guy. Looks really good. Very little holster wear. Innards look to be pristine. Righthand side grip screws have some oxidation as does the back of trigger (underside). I'm thinking right handed carry with some exposure? Haven't stripped it yet. One mag. $280 + $25 shipping. Gunbroker. Got so fired-up about the West German Sigs that I found a P220 .45 for $425 (same condition as above) and ordered that. Budget is now shot, but I'm a happy cowboy!:D

sophijo...

I think you are going to like your P6. :)

For the longest time, there was only ONE handgun I liked, the 1911. And I'm not much of a handgun person (rifles are where it's at for me!), but after spending time with the Sig, it is really growing on me and I like it a lot. It points naturally, it feels nice in the hand, and I like the slim grip (thanks to the single-stack mag). The grip seems to be just the right size and shape that people with big hand as well as small can use it no problem. The decocker is pretty cool too. I think I want one of my own now! :)

Sig will have some new factory magazines soon, they were expecting another shipment. If you buy more than 3 from them it's $45 apiece with free shipping.

Buy them while you can, they might not produce anymore.
