I am in the middle of a 458 socom build And looking for the equivalent of a 1 inch Burris pepr mount and was wondering if there was either a lighter one at its price point or a cheaper alternative?

Nikon “P” series mounts are lightweight, and strong. They’re around $50 and available at Wal Mart. I’m using several on my AR’s, and have used them for many years.

Vortex, Warne, Burris, Aero. Those are my low cost go-to mounts.

If a friend gave me a set of Nikon P mounts, I’d unfriend them on social media and block their phone number.

You may want to look at the Redfield SPR mounts. Cabela's often has them on sale for $20. I have a number of them. They work really well.

I like my 30mm Aero Precision Ultralight SPR mount better than my P.E.P.R.

If you look at the pepper you should look at the salt too. It meets your criteria of both lighter and cheaper in an offset one piece:

SWFA SSALT // 59.95-10% and free S&H: https://swfa.com/swfa-s-s-a-l-t-30mm-scope-mount.html
No QD (unless you go to their premium much more expensive option), 30mm with aluminum inserts for 1"
SSALT: 8oz
PEPR: 8.3oz/8.7oz listed for the 1"/30mm

The aero ultralight 30mm weighs in at 3.27 oz. and can be had for ~$80. No QD.

The SALT is a rebadged PEPR.
? Negative sir.
The SSALT is made by SWFA while the PEPR is made by Burris. The weights are (slightly) different. The dimensions (while similar) are different. Finishes (while similar) are different. QD vs. no QD option. Rail mounts on the top of the PEPR option vs. no such option for the SWFA. Also the SWFA comes as a 30mm with inserts to satisfy both 30mm and 1" tube sizes with one unit while the PEPR offers 3 different sizes. etc...

I own both and have been satisfied with both. Honestly after looking at the Aero I think I would like to try it just for the weight savings but still both of these are gtg imo.

The PEPR is not made by Burris and the SALT is not made by SWFA. I mounted a scope for a friend last year and he’d bought a SALT. When he came over I compared it to my PEPR and they were the same. Yes they are accessorized differently and the SALT only comes in 30mm with inserts to mount a 1” scope. I also checked with a manager I know at SWFA and he confirmed it. So I’ll stick to my guns.

Well I guess we could have a different idea of what, "made by" and, "made for" means but it's inconsequential. They are different mounts. As I said I own both. Again, they have a slightly different finish. They have different weights. DIMENSIONALLY they are different. It is not an identical mount that has been stamped with either logo. I would also be curious what specifically a manager at SWFA told you? Don't take my word for it...see for yourself:

Different dimensionally (obvious in a few areas if you look at them). Different weights. Different finishes. Different vendors. Different pricepoints. Not rebadged. Similar but different. ;)

The ones I compared were identical. SWFA is an online retailer, they make nothing. Burris doesn’t make the PEPR. Maybe one of the two had the specs changed or went to a new supplier. The bottoms on the ones I compared were identical.
