38 Special - 125 grain bullets
Powder -
7000 gr per lb
5 gr per load
1400 loads per lb
So the powder costs me 33.25 per lb, then the powder per round is .023 cents. If this is so then if the powder costs 17.00 per lb, then the powder cost per round is .012 cents per round.
Primers cost between 2-3 cents per round
Bullets cost about 14.00 per 100 or .14 cents per round.
So playing with these numbers on excel it looks like to get my cost down I mostly need to worry about the price of bullets. The powder plays no significant role as if I double the cost from 17.00 to 34.00 the cost per round is still about 1- 2 cents. But if I can cut the cost of the bullets in half, than I can cut the cost of my price per box in half.
I'm I off base here?
