I bought a brand new Dan Wesson pm7 at my gun smiths store this week and look at the rifling! It all started when I began shooting the day after I bought it, and the sear would not let the trigger reset. I would fire, the gun went boom, (which is normal), the slide went back (normal), but when I let go of the trigger to fire the next shot it did not move to the forward position (not normal). I brought it back to my gunsmith and he fixed the sear without a blink of an eye. Apparently the sear had been cut at two angles instead of one , no big deal. But when he was bringing it back to me, he saw the defect in the barrel and showed me.I must have got a bad one, because I have not seen or herd anything bad about Dan Wesson 1911s also, other customers were shocked to find out it was a DW . So, it is going to be sent back to DW for a new barrel and bushing. I am a little worried about this gun, but between DW and my gun smith, I know that it will get right.

Wow, that is a mess. I recently bought a DanWesson PM7 and the barrel is defect free.
So far I've put approx 400 rounds through it without a hiccup except the slide won't lock back with the Wilson 47D mags. Works fine with Colt mags, GI mags, CMC mags and even the new Wilson ETM mags, just not the 47Ds. Not a biggee.

I'm sure DW will make it right for you

Wow. I don't think DW makes the barrels. I could be wrong. I am suprised it made it through qc from multiple companies. Or perhaps there is no qc.

One questions, from the time you bought it to shot it the first time, did not never look down the barrel at the rifling? I usually do as part of the first pre shoot cleaning, but not always. longer barreled .22 are tough to inspect well.

I ran a patch through it to remove any oil that was there and looked from the muzzle to make sure it was clean. It was clean, and I started to shoot, but it is hard to see the defect from that end because it is only aprx half an inch from the chamber. I did not give it a second thought. I had problems with the sear within the first 30 rounds and did not want to take it apart so I could show my gun smith the first problem.

Makes sense. Let us know how DW handles it. I have the same gun and love it. I hope they take care of you. In the past I recall it is best to call / write DW division directly and not go through CZ. When looking for a local dealer, my e-mail to CZ took a week, while the one I sent to DW took a day.

farmmer dan, my hats off to you for giving a great pistol a chance. Too many times one thing goes wrong and from then on ALL _______'s are a POS. myself included. Everyone, every now and then lets one slip by it does not mean they are all junk. So thank you and have fun shooting your great gun.

Glad it got caught before anything worse happened. Hats off from me as well farmmer dan - nice to meet people with positive attitudes. ;)

My gun smith said the flaw would not make it any less accurate because it is so close to the rear of the barrel. But I think it should be fixed anyway. He said I don't have too but, I could shoot it for a wile and send it in just before the warranty runs out to make shure it does not have any more hicups. If it does have one small hicup he will send it in right away. I am not completly sure why he sugested to wait but I think I will
