Hey everybody, I recently got an inexpensive Savage Model 64 .22LR rifle and mounted a scope on it for plinking at the range. My problem is that the stock has a relatively low drop at the comb, and I would like to add some height so I can get a good cheek weld in line with the scope. I know there are several aftermarket cheek rests available, like these -

but it's hard to tell if they work well for a leftie, or are only designed for a right-handed shooter.

Can you help me with some suggestions as to which product I should check out, or - even better - does anyone have a "recipe" for creating something similar myself? I suppose I could work something up with duct tape and foam padding... does anyone have any experience here, or recommendations?

Thanks guys!

Also FYI, I did do a search and saw the excellent kydex custom riser project for an M1A, but I want this to be a little less involved / doesn't have to be as nice, and easier would be preferred.

I read from time to time about people who have a home-made cheek rest / riser on their rifle, but I've never seen any details or plans, so I was hoping maybe someone who has done it could give me some detailed advice before I start taping stuff to my rifle. :)

Eagle makes a left handed stock bag/cheek rest for lefties, velcro straps on.

Navy Joe,

That looks really nice... maybe a little too nice. The rifle I'm putting it on only cost $114, with a $30 Tasco scope, so I don't know if I want to invest that much in this fix... I'm starting to gravitate more and more towards making a cheek rest myself, but I'm not sure what type of foam / padding would make a good material for the riser...

Thanks for the heads up tho!
