This is my first Chiappa and first rifled musket. I purchased it through Cabelas. The fit and finish are the same as Pedersoli or uberti. Excellent in my book but not custom shop quallity. (i buy mine to shoot not to look at)
I shot 50 .58 cal round balls through it with 75 gn. of pyrodex RS. I found it to be a very accurate 200 yard gun. I was shooting 200 yards out and 10 feet up with the rear sight all the way down. Sorry I didn't get time to chrony yet to find perfect powder charge of course that can make a big differance on sighting. The only two things bad about this rifle is the front sight is fixed and the rear has no windage adjustment and the trigger pull is so hard I had to use my second finger after the first one got swore. Of course both issues are easy fixes. So yes I would say that over all I am very pleased with this weapon and would recommend it to anyone who wants a very good quallity long ranged BP rifled musket.

Thanks for an informative review. If you could post a picture of two that would be nice. Does this have the door for a Maynard primer on the lock? Does the door actually open?

How much problem are you having with windage on the fixed sights?

At 200 yards its 6'' to the left. I think I can fix that. The Door is for looks only, yes is does open but only to a 1/16'' deep hole behind it

Good looking rifle you have there mitchz. I have a couple questions about a rifle I got hold of but want post it on your thread. You did give out some good information that will help others. :)
