I was in the market looking for the gsg 1911 or a kel tec pmr 30 but could not find one in my area. i came across a chiappa 1911 which is similar to the gsg but just not interchange the 1911 parts. with all the fees trying to get the gsg or pmr online, i settled for the chiappa.

my first impressions were, wow it's a heavy gun. looks and feels like a real 1911 only the grip safey was fake. it appears well made and perfect in my hand. the trigger is a bit stiff and hard for my liking but guess i have to break it in and see. the black finish is not the best but i couldn't complain for the price. ironic how the dealer said he had a pmr 30 a few weeks ago and no one bought it. kind of just sat there for a while. were was i then? lol.

after two days waiting period, finally got a chance to go pick it up. it came with two magazines, a cleaning brush and the owners manual in a small tan case. my fingers are itching to shoot this thing but time won't allow it until maybe middle of next week. i've read a bunch of good and bad reviews on this gun but i don't expect much for a .22lr handgun under $300. Hope everything goes good. I'm loving this gun already!

I've handled and shot both thanks to the good graces of my local Rent-A-Gun range. Go for the GSG. It's just nicer all around and has a nicer slide to frame fit and feel. I also like the looks and operation of the GSG mags more than the Chiappa.

Having said this neither had a really good trigger. But again I've read that the GSG is easier to use most of the usual 1911 tricks for tuning it. Perhaps the Chiappa responds the same way to tuning. I have not seen or researched that aspect though.

finally got a chance to shoot it today. lubbed it up REAL good and started shooting 100 rounds of mini mags. on the second magazine, second shot was a failure to eject. ran fine after that. then i ran mixed ammo, 100 rounds of federal bulk, 100 rounds of federal lightning, and a few rounds of winchester x bulk with about 10 hiccups. ended it off with a box of stingers which of course ran 100%.

wow, this thing is a beast. 300+ rounds without cleaning and still running pretty reliable. i can feel the slide start to friction so i stopped. it shot very smooth and softer recoil than my s&w 22a. very accurate once i knew where to aim. the trigger still sucks. i notice the fake beaver tail seems to move when recoil. maybe it's loose? the brass seems to fly randomly, once down my sleeves. i was thinking it was going to jam every other magazine but turns out running pretty good.

I like mine but some of the gals I shoot with find it too heavy for their likings. To date it has been a fairly reliable little plinker. While not a real competitor in the 22lr handgun market it does help with getting some of the younger shooters I deal with ready for the larger calibers. They seem to feel more comfortable with the larger calibers after getting used to the ergonomics of this little 22. I don't see it getting as much use as my Buckmark in the field but at the range it works just fine.

I heard great things about it and I owned one for 3 days (never shot).
I just could not stomatch the very utilitarian finishing (it is basicaly some sort of spray painted and blotched) and the fact that the construction is pot metal junk.....just the smell of it is something I hate, felt like a toy gun in my hands (in fact the 1911-22 it is nothing more than the 22 LR version of a blank firing 1911 made by the same company). The fact that you had to file the front post to adjust the sights was the straw that broke the camel's back. I sold it for the same amount I bought it and got myself a S&W 22.

Awful trigger!

Maybe I'm spoiled by my Buckmark but my Dad's father inlaw, I guess that would make him my Grandfather inlaw bought one of these. While the gun itself was not overly terrible the trigger did not promote anything to the accuracy. If there was a way to smooth up the trigger some and you absolutely had to have a .22 that looked like a 1911 it would be ok but if not spend the $300 bucks on a Ruger or Browning.:)

Should have used the search first mine does the same. A .22LR pistol that needs .22LR ammo that costs about as much as cheap 9mm to function is no bargain!

Don't waste your time or money (they won't pay shipping) to send it back as I did and it was if anything worse than before I sent it :(

One stovepipe in 70 rounds is the best its ever done and that was with CCI Mini-Mags.

My Buckmark, S&W M22A, and Beretta Neos (all about the same price) easily go 1000+ rounds without issues or cleaning.
