CHL Holders, what are your top 10 concealment handguns, methods of carry and if applicable, holsters and ammo?

Mine:

1.) Sig 229 .40 S&W carried IWB (Don Hume) or OWB (Don Hume) behind left hip. Gold Dot 180 gr. Golden Saber 180 gr. Or Federal Hydrashock 180gr.
2.) CZ PCR 9mm carried behind left hip IWB 147 gr. Golden Saber, Ranger or Gold Dot as well as 125 gr. And 125+P.
3.) Sig 228 9mm carried behind left hip IWB 147 gr. Golden Saber, Ranger or Gold Dot as well as 125 gr. And 125+P.
4.) CZ P01 9mm same as above147 gr. Golden Saber, Ranger or Gold Dot as well as 125 gr. And 125+P.
5.) Sig 225 9mm same as above147 gr. Golden Saber, Ranger or Gold Dot as well as 125 gr. And 125+P.
6.) Glock 26 same as above except when in T-Shirt, carried cross draw IWB with Uncle Mike’s el’cheapo special IWB hoslter147 gr. Golden Saber, Ranger or Gold Dot as well as 125 gr. And 125+P.
7.) Glock 19 cross draw as the 26 or behind left hip IWB (I like the G23 as well but is much harder to control in rapid fire.) 147 gr. Golden Saber, Ranger or Gold Dot as well as 125 gr. And 125+P.
8.) Glock 30 behind left hip in holster (too fat for IWB) 230gr. Winchester SXT or Federal 230 gr. Hydrashock
9.) Taurus CIA 650 .357 Magnum for a (drop in the pocket) gun. Using Uncle Mikes pocket holster for a convenient package for when I need 5 bad. Carry only Remington 125 gr. .357 mag. Which chronos over 1200 fps out of a snubby or Federal 125….about the same speed. (Note: this is a very difficult gun to shoot and I generally hate recoil, but shooting 110gr. .38 special target loads is a hoot)
10.) Sig Pro 2340 or SP2002 or SP2009. Really this is a duty sized weapon but can carry surprisingly well. The Pro shoots the .40 S&W very easily. Carry IWB behind hip or OWB behind hip. When driving, crossdraw IWB.

BTW:

Pics encouraged.

Kimber Tactical Ultra (Crimson Trace Laser grip)
Kimber Ultra Carry
Kel Tec .32 or .380

Don Hume JIT (belt)
Front pocket

45ACP= Aguila IQ HP
.32, .380= Cor Bon JHP

Only three, because if I knew of anything better I'd carry it.

SIG 226 ST now been duty solidly for a year - using a K&D Eagle Defender.

Prior to that was SP-101 in another K&D rig - OWB belt-slide copy of an old favorite Jim Burke style.

R9 BUG sometimes - either in K&D Pocket rig or small belt slide - maybe too even an ankle rig sometimes by pro-Tech.

Bianchi X-15 may see duty with SIG occasional - and that rig also served fine for P95 and BHP too.

M28-2 was carried for a period of time - that was in a JBP rig.

Nowadays I might carry any one of these:
Smith & Wesson Model 38 in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster.
Modified Sistema in a handmade IWB holster I picked up at Clark's.
The same Sistema with a belt clip.
Modified Colt Compact in a IWB holster or a Don Hume JIT.
KelTec P32 on a belt clip.

In the past I have also carried:
Paraordnance C6.45LDA
HK USPc
Beretta Mini-Cougar
Kahr K40
S&W Model 649
S&W Model 49
S&W Model 60
Makarov
Walther PPK/S :scrutiny:
Beretta M21A
Beretta 92FS

Daily I now carry either a:
Wilson CQB Compact or
Springfield Stainless Champion

Both are backed up by a:
Taurus PT-145 Millennium Pro or
Kel-Tec P-11

I have carried in the past:
Sig P220ST
Sig P245
Para Ordnance Carry 12 LDA
Springfield Ultra Compact
Springfield GI WWII Champion
Springfield Compact
Ruger SP-101 in .357mag
Taurus 415 in .41mag

Because I wear a shirt and tie with no jacket, I am kinda limited.

When at work, I have a P32 in my pocket in one of Azrael's custom leather pocket holsters. Its not much, but its better than a stick.

When I am away from work:
SigPro 2340 in either a Desantis IWB or a Don Hume JIT slide holster or
Taurus 605 IWB Galco
S&W 64-2 in a Don Hume OWB Belt Holster

Now....I am getting ready to order a couple holsters for my G26 that I can hopefully tuck with at work.

Kahr PM9 with Nemesis pocket holster or Don Hume IWB.
KelTec P3AT w/Nemesis pocket holster.
Taurus 651 w/Nemesis or Uncle Mikes pocket holster.

I nearly always wear a shirt with the shirt-tail outside the pants. I buy shirts marked 'Tall' so that I get longer tails.

I nearly always carry a Colt Officers ACP Lightweight in .45ACP in a pancake holster on my right hip.

Sometimes I also carry a Kel Tec P3AT either in the hip pocket of my pants or in the side pocket of my jacket.

Glock G26. Usually carry in 5-11 tactical shirts or vests or shoulder holster.
When it's really warm and clothing is light, I carry a Kahr PM9 in a pocket.

I've only carried three on a regular basis.
  1. Kahr K9 in a Bianchi OWB.
  2. Ruger SP101 3" .38 in a Bianchi OWB
  3. Makarov PM (Bulgarian) in a Falco IWB
I'm still considering a BUG but can't make up my mind on one.

jmm

Top 10? I'll go through my progression as best as I can remember it:

1) Started with a Glock 19 in a kydex IWB holster. It didn’t fit my hand well, and I wasn’t very accurate with it. It worked all the time (still does, my brother owns it now) and I feel like it was a great carry gun . . . just not right for me.
2) SIG 228. . .another great gun, but not as convenient to carry as the
3) SIG 239 . . .which was very easy to conceal but which didn’t fit my hand well, and then I found
4) A SIG 225. This one was a keeper. Fit like a glove, accurate, and slim. If I had to go back to the 225 I would do so happily.
Now I alternate between a couple that I have found work best for me:

5) Commander sized 1911, milt sparks VMII
6) CCO sized 1911, milt sparks VMII
7) HK P7, milt sparks VMII

I don’t have a concealed holster for it, but at some point I’d like to try carrying my 3” ruger gp100.

I can't say this is a list of top 10 concealment guns, only the ones I have tried. I would have to add a Rohrbaugh and a snubby revolver to the list at least, and I'm sure I'm missing some other good ones, but for me it is P7 or 1911 these days.

While I can probably come up with ten handguns that I could carry, the list of those I actually use regularly is a bunch shorter.

1: Springfield "Loaded" Champion, 230 gr. Hydra Shoks, SXTs, or Gold Dots, Milt Sparks VM-II or Wild Bill's NSA IWB.

2: Para C7.45, same loads and holster rigs.

3: Star M-43 "Firestar" 9x19, 124 gr. Gold Dots, Milt Sparks Summer Special.

4: Keltec P-32, 60 gr. Hornady XTPs or Gold dots, Don Hume pocket rig - always.

Other Options, just for jollies:

Keltec P-11, 124 gr. Hydra Shoks or Gold Dots, Don Hume JIT.

EAA Witness 9x19, 115 gr. Silvertips, Safariland 5182.

CZ 97B, 230 gr. Hydra Shoks, Tex-Czech "Mustang" belt rig.

S&W 640-1, 125 gr. Remington BJHP .357 Mag., Don Hume BTB.

S&W 4586, 230 gr. SXTs, Bianchi "Askins Avenger".

Dan Wesson 15-2, Federal Premium Personal Defense 130 gr. .357s, Bianchi 5BHL.

I will assume that you're asking about rigs that you own or have owned. In order of concealability, from least to greatest:

  1. Sig P220ST, Tripp HC, Winchester Ranger RA45T 230, Milt Sparks 55BN
  2. Sig P220, Tripp HC slide, Winchester Ranger RA45T 230, Milt Sparks Versa Max II
  3. Sig P245, Tripp HC slide, Winchester Ranger RA45TP (+P) 230, Milt Sparks Versa Max II
  4. S&W 340SC, Speer GD 135, Kramer Pocket
My favorite compromise? The P245 setup.

Have a great day,
Rich
