CZ Hammer coach 20" SxS 12Ga or
CZ p01 9mm + Kadet Kit in .22lr
Both would be under 900 and I can't make up my mind. Already own a cz 75b pistol but wanted to get the p01 as it fits my hand better and for carry down the road. Only problem is that I won't carry for a while (not possible for the next 6 months or so due to work) and for range use I can always make do with the fullsize 75b. It is mainly in IDPA that I prefer the p01 to use instead of my 75b and the kadet kit would make for useful practice. I am not competitive and just compete against my old times.
The only reason I want the hammer coach is because it is gorgeous and I need a shotgun to round out the collection as I have none. The pump stuff (870, 500) will work but part of the coach appeal is the looks and reliability when it comes to a home defense gun for people with little experience to operate under stress. I understand it will work for casual clay shooting with friends also. So the main things it will be used for would be, range fun, occasional clays thrown in the air with friends, simple home defense gun to leave with two shells in uncocked, and admiring it.
I just have a hard time justifying that much on one gun with the shotgun when I could get 1.5 guns or even 2 for the same price. Most of my collection is under 450$ per gun, hence the hesitation Don't tell me to buy both as it is just one for now as I have other hobbies to buy stuff for and will most likely just deal without the other.
Both will be enjoyed and appreciated but I am curious what you would choose yourself if you were in my position where you wanted something new to add to the collection but not sure which one first. The coach is under 800otd and the p01+kadet is under 900 otd. If you ask why I chose CZ stuff, then I own their pistol and .22 rifle and both are very accurate and function flawlessly. The few times I have had to deal with their support for issues I have been taken care of well and in one case they went above and beyond so I have faith in them and would like to see more of their stuff in peoples hands. However, if you have any other interesting suggestions I am open to ideas.
Thanks.
