Remington factory (OEM) 12ga Rem-Choke unit pricing for the "REM CHOKE, FULL, LEAD OR STEEL" product is significantly higher than the OEM modified choke, for example.

Pricing of a competing Rem-choke product by Carlsons also sold by Brownells has *no* such premium for their Full versus modified offering.

I see similar premiums on the OEM full Rem-choke from other sources.

Any knowledge or speculation why the Remington OEM full choke is retailed at a premium compared to their other similar (less restricted) choke tubes?

Remington makes the only flush mounted choke tube in Full that is rated for lead or steel that I am aware of, and that's why. It's made of a maraging steel alloy and that stuff is expensive, tougher and harder than typical alloy steel, and it's harder to machine. Thanks to Remington - I had never heard of it before - I started having several machine parts made out of it with excellent success.
They also make a lead only RemChoke Full tube and it's cheaper.

The full choke, lead or steel, was iirc $19.95 in 1993 when I bought one and the rest of them were $12 or whatever.

It didn't work too well with steel shot. The modified has always patterned better with steel and Hevi-Shot. Heck, some loads work better with IC. You just have to pattern them and see.
