I'm about to start loading for 10mm and I'm trying to decided on the powder to use.

Best velocity / pressure seems to be 800X, and Accurate #7 with all the others trailing behind.

I'm primarily going to be loading 135 gr Nosler JHP

How do 800X, Accurate #7, and TightGroup compare for flash and metering? I here 800X is a "weigh only" powder in pistol volumes.

I'd love to use 800X if it's safe in a thrower because it has so much better pressure/velocity margin in both the 10 and 40 that I can back off the pressure and get the same velocity. But if it makes a huge fireball or I can't volume load it safely or consistantly then It's on to the other choices.

My plan is to work up one near full power load for accuracy and use it for everything (target, defense, etc . . .)

Oh, I'm also planning on using Starline Brass and Winchester Large Pistol primers and they're going to be shot out of a Delta Elite if it makes any differance.

I think AA#7 is hard to beat if you are flash concerned. If not, Power Pistol and Blue Dot are personal favorites. 800X gives a small fireball, but it is more orange than the white one from PP or Blue Dot.

OK, between the metering issues and flash I guess AA#7 is going to be the way to go. Has anyone tried the #107 from GIBrass.com ? $56 for 7 lbs is really tempting but only if it has the same low flash.
