Had the opportunity to look over a Christensen Arms rifle today, with steel barrel, 7mm mag.
First impression: I was blown away by the smoothness of the bolt, and lock up. I have never run a rifle that smooth. Wow. I have not even felt a Sako that nice. I do not know if they all are that way, but if so, amazing. I did not shoot it, so can not say much more about it. Stock felt high quality and solid. Buttpad is rather mushy and probably junk, I guess everything has an achilles heel.

But overall... WOW. Got me rethinking what I need next.

Also there were a couple aftermarket High dollar Tactcal Solutions 10/22 takedowns wearing magpul plastic and custom receivers that were as smooth as a factory 10/22 should be (for comparison the factory 10/22 bolt cycled like riding on gravel). Extremely nice ...tag started at 899 for those.

I just checked those out on Christensens site. Msrp of 1300 puts them right in the range of a "high" end production synthetic from the usual suspects. Ive never handled one of their rifles, but a friend of mine has a carbon barreled classic and has only good things to say about it.

Looks like the recoil pads one of the newer limbsavers. Good at recoil reduction, but sucky as a walking stick......
