I want my next rifle to a lighter weight (compared to my AI) bolt gun in 308 that is configured in more of a traditional rifle pattern. Think something like a M24 or a M40. Basically, not a chassis. I want a 308 as well.

The Christensen Arms Mesa LR has really caught my eye. I love the way they look and reviews say they shoot well. It's sub 10 pounds and runs about 1500 dollars.

I also really like the Seekins Havak PH but the spiral fluting is really ugly.

The Bergara HMR has really impressed me every time Ive shot one and runs 1000 bucks.

Any other rifles sub 2000 dollars that I should be looking at as well?

Ive been seriously thinking about getting a regular Mesa to be my "I like you" loaner rifle, and range toy.
Ive been very happy with my ridgeline. here's my sight in group from this week. First shot was at 25yds, the second is the one left of the bullseye at 100, next 3 are 6 clicks right.

I was shooting off a bipod and a pair of range bags at the rear, so that's about the best I could have done.
That was also all 5 rounds that of that ammo that I took with me.
The Mesa is all the same parts minus the carbon wrap on the barrel.

The bottom right group was shot by my buddy zeroing the new Browning SLR in 28 nosler. There should be 5 bullets there, so unless he missed the whole backer with the last 4 shots theres 2 in one hole.
Thats another nice rifle for the cost.

Ive also had a Bergara b14, and honestly I don't KNOW if the Christensen is really a nicer rifle than the Bergara......Id be hard pressed to choose between a Mesa LR and an HMR.

Some people love the Christensen Arms rifles. I am not a fan. When I worked in a retail environment, I remember having more issues with Christensen rifles than pretty much anything else. Most of it was easily correctable, but I expect rifles in that price range to perform out of the box. $1000 rifles should not have loose action screws out of the box.

They do seem to be a love or hate thing.
Follks are also willing to overlook stuff like that's on cheaper guns. Tho ive heard some complaints more major than just small stuff, ive also generally hears that Christensen will take care of fixing them......if they dont get yelled at lol.

Oh i forgot, i also used a Christensen barrel on my latest Creedmoor build, i dont know if i have any pictures of it, but its a pretty consistent .5-.75moa rifle. The action is a basic 700p.

There’s no doubt that Christensen is capable of building some awesome rifles. I just feel like they must pass out a 12 pack to every employee at noon on Fridays.

Could well be lol
My personal experience with them is limited too 2 Ridgelines ive shot quite a bit, the Barrel on my 700, and what ive heard about another couple rifles that friends of friends own or owned.....thats not a very big pool.

My local Sportsman's Warehouse always had a decent selection of the Christensen Arms rifles. So I'll be able to get my hands on the rifle and check it over before buying.
