Christmas shipping woes thread

I purchased a S&W 4506 via auction, rolling the dice knowing full well this is a perilous time to ship anything.
Well wouldn't you know it. It arrived in Seattle on the 16th and hasn't been seen since.

I'm about 70/30 that its gone for good, given where it disappeared.

Anybody else having shipping woes right now?

I ordered some bullets and got a shipping notice 12/6 and the tracker showed "label printed." And it stayed that way with no movement for over a week, so I inquired. Seems the new postmaster was not interested in having his people pick up heavy boxes. They finally got somebody to do his job and they are shown as on the way, due Saturday. More likely Tuesday, we shall see.

Of course. It's always been a problem and with the proliferation of online ordering it has gotten worse and will continue to do so. Here is hoping that your order arrives sooner rather than later.

USPS has always had trouble sending packages even when not in this season around the country on sight seeing trips before it is delivered to you. Amazon has developed the same short coming this season.

A relative, last year, sent $600 cash, and it was late by two weeks, but we got it, safe and sound. This year cash in a card again buy sent by registered mail and it was only 2 days late, but arrived safe and sound. One problem I see is I live at the edge of a big city but have a suburb zip code. The suburb has multiple zips. I called a MayTag repairman and he said the same thing. And I said "Look at the Address and not the zip". Oh, ok he said. To error is human, to screw things up takes a computer(or a cell phone). And that was the problem.

Yep. I had a Magnum Research BFR in 500 magnum I thought was lost for sure last year in December. It eventually showed up about 3 weeks after it was sent. It seems history is repeating itself this year, I have another BFR this time in 45/70 that was sent Monday from some city in Florida. As of tonight (Thursday evening) the tracking system says it is still in Orlando.

Nothing weird with gun stuff this year but plenty weird with other stuff. Wife wanted earrings so I ordered some. I hand typed in the address when I ordered them, and I know I did because I ordered from my computer which I have only ever used for work and watching the news so it didn’t have any autofill info saved. Somehow the hard keyed KY address I gave them turned into my old TN address when they reconciled my email address to an account where I had ordered stuff before… but of course that was my fault and they aren’t responsible and refuse to give a refund unless the earrings are returned. I got a manager type person on the phone and they were rude and dismissive. So with my situation being what it is, I will no longer support them with purchases for my wife, mother, 3 daughters, 3 nieces, mother in law, nor will my wife’s nonprofit support them with purchases of Christmas wishlist items like we recently bought elsewhere after this debacle. Can’t see the forest for the trees here, lost roughly a grand a year in repeat business over their mistake on a $75 pair of white gold ball earrings that they probably had 30 bucks in.

All the gun related stuff has come perfectly fine, as has all of my other Christmas purchases, but several have been late by a day or two, but that’s normal with Walmart.com or Amazon even outside of the holiday rush.

November 20th I bought a trigger bar from Wilson Combat for my Beretta. Fed Ex took it to Mississippi on the first day it shipped. The next day it went back to Arkansas. The next day back to MS where it stayed for two days. Another trip back to AR and then off to Texas. Next day went to Richmond, CA. After sitting there for four days it left for Sacramento. Guess it liked Richmond better because it went back there for two more days. Back to Sacramento for two days before a two day, 50 mile trip to my home. The one time I got a Fed Ex employee on the phone I was told that this was their busy time of the year and I had to be patient. No help, just a weak excuse.

I won't ever have a firearm shipped again, I got lucky and the 4 or 5 I've had shipped through an FFL I feel I got lucky but I'm extremely impatient and have a tendency to worry so I'll pay the extra $50 to buy FTF. I hate waiting for packages to arrive, it's torture for me but I guess if you're a collector or buy/source alot of firearms it's just par for the course. The last gun I had shipped to an FFL was from a member here on THR and it arrived quickly but the FFL's hours and schedule came into play more than I would have liked. I knew the gun was there and had arrived but it took a few days of back and forth with the FFL and then on top of it all I had to wait on a delay when my info got entered into NICS.

More aggravation than I want to deal with. I'll buy guns on site or ask an FFL to order one for me vs the whole song and dance.

If only it was as easy and headache free as the antigunners would lead you to believe.....

i ordered a hogue grip for my revolver. ordered 12/10 and was not till 12/18 that it was delivered. no picture of delivery. what arrived was an empty bag. it was never sealed and the item must have fallen out somewhere in transit. thankfully refund from amazon was quick. I'll reorder after the holidays.

Sorry to hear about your problems. Somebody at the Post Office stole $300 that I had sent as Christmas presents, and when I confronted them about it, they started yelling at me and accusing me of "running a scam." Hope it works out better for you!

Yeah, I got that too, USPS 2 day priority mail, that took 9 days from the day they received it, to go 200 miles. Was a coupla $100 gift cards and it was stuck at the local small town Post Office for 5 of those days. I figured one of the local Post Office employees knew how the local vendor was sending their gift certificates and wanted a Christmas present for themselves. Thankfully that was not the case, because I was just about to dispute the CC charge.

BTW.......the USPS refunded the cost of the 2-day shipping. duh.......:scrutiny:

When did USPS start offering 2 day priority mail? Better yet when did they start refunding for a service they don't offer? duh..................

I’ve already had one package delivered to the wrong address this Christmas season. Per USPS policies, I have to wait 45 days to start a claim. Good shipping is tough to find and under appreciated.

We all remember far enough back that parcel post would get here when it got here. Now we need and receive constant reassurance that our stuff will arrive. Misdirection will happen as long as humans and/or optical readers are involved, but now we watch in horror as our precious moves from one ridiculous depot to another. We know we are being lied to, but demand more lies, then kvetch when things go awry. This phenomenon is not limited to logistics.

I pay more every year for Prime's ridiculous two day delivery assurance, which usually translates to one week. I will admit that I am the real problem. If I, and others with the same failing, would just stop trying to buy happiness, the flow of goods would abate and my Fedex guy could smile again, instead of taking a photo of the package on the front porch because he is presumed guilty o_O

When, on 12/26 I saw:
