I'm told that the Beretta M9/92FS series pistols have chrome-lined barrels. Is this feature unique to Beretta handguns or is it common among modern manufacturers (SIG, Glock, Colt, etc.)?

Usually a feature of military weapons, Beretta is the only one I know does this on at least some of their pistols. The 84/85 and 90 series are chrome lined.

Not really needed, any more, now that nearly all gunpowders and primers are non-corrosive. It was once a very functional feature. I don't think that the chrome adds much -- maybe, just maybe, some extra barrel life.

yes, extra barrel life in a rifle, but pistol velocities don't generate as much friction, but yeah a corresponding increase in barrel life that is a non issue for the vast majority of pistol shooters. the main virtue seems to be in cleaning, with a chromed bore the fouling comes off quicker, fewer patches.

The CZ 82 also has this feature, not sure about the rest of the line.

Can you cite a reference for this? My CZ 82 did not appear to be lined, just smooth and polygonal. I've never been able to find any reference from CZ concerning chrome barrels. Thanks.
