Hello.

Im needing a scale that is accurate to at least .1 grain, and a chronagraph that is accurate to at least 5 FPS.

Does anyone know where to get these at a good price? If possible, I would like to keep the total for both less than $300. If anyone could post a good site for either of these items, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

http://www.midwayusa.com/ often has them on sale. Almost all the reloading scales claim +/- 0.1 gr., and Midway also sells check weights. The old-fashioned balance beams are as accurate as the digital scales, just not as convenient and "metro".

I think +/- 5 fps might be a little ambitious, and ... how do you check it? But any decent chronograph, from the Chrony to the Oehler will serve its purpose if it is self-consistent. My choice for a limited budget (mine is) is Chrony.

Infidel is right on with his comments.

There was an article a few years ago in which the author tested several chronographs and found them to be within 10 fps of each other. Do not remember exactly how he tested them but his method sounded logical at the time.

funny you should mention it. I've got a Chrony and i just bought the new CED Millenium and i was going to put them in line this friday and shoot through both of them and compare them.

My dad has the F1 master or beta or one of the others. I may try to borrow it next weekend and shoot through all three chronos at the same time. I'll post the results when i get a chance

If you shoot through all three of them you will not be posting any results. At least I do not think so. Instead, try to shoot over them and they will give years of results. I know that the Shooting Chrony I had did not like the bullet going through it.

I'm new to reloading and on a tight budget. Is there a good digital scale accurate down to .1grain or less for under $100,or would it be wise to invest the money on a real good balance-beam scale? If so,can someone suggest one of the better balance-beams under $100. I will be reloading .357 mags only for the time being.
