I have been looking at a Pact or a Gama master. I am mainly looking for something to give velocity and to be able to print it out to go in my load binder. I definately don't need anything too confusing as I have heard that they can be. The Pact seems good as it has a printer and has infered sky screens I guess for low light shooting. (how important is this. I can't gaurantee there will ample sun light when I shoot) Which one is more user friendly.

I have had excellant service from my old PACT Pro, the original chronograph with a built-in printer. The excellant internal ballistics computer can proved trajectory tables for any range and set of conditions I could ever need and it's pretty intuitive to use, not hard even for me!

NOT familiar with the various Chrony's, just read a lot of variable comments on the net. What I know for sure that I DON'T like about any of it's type is that the whole thing sits a few inches from total destruction on each shot. ??

I suspect most people have "troubles" due to placing the screens too close to the muzzles AND allowing direct sunlight to shine into the sensor slots; NOT good!

IR screens wouldn't do a thing for me, I only shoot in full daylight, usually in the mornings.

I can tell you I won't buy another Shooting Chrony product. Got a std F1 back in 1993 and "upgraded" to a Master F1 with the cable attached remote. The older std F1 worked well, was very simple, reliable and not finicky... The F1 Master was terrible overall. You literally could not shoot any higher than 2-3" above the sensors, and alignment had to be perfect. Just a hair off of dead center resulted in continuous errors.

The Master F1 was extremely finicky to lighting, and had no rhyme or reason for numerous errors, wild readings/no readings, you name it. Made testing a chore, a waste of ammo and a PITA. Recently got a Competition Electronics ProChrono Digital, and so far so good. Take the dang thing out of the box, add a battery, put up the rods and shoot! No errors yet, the shooting area is huge, and best of all it seems not very picky about lighting conditions. You can hook the ProChrono Digital to your computer to print results, and perform other functions with purchase of their software and cable.

I know some will rave about the Chrony, but I had enough and their CS was not so great at all in my experience, plus the CE is made in the USA not Canada. CE has a reasonable exchange cost when you need to replace a shot-up unit as well.

Same same as the gentlemen above.

Bought a Shooting Chrony Beta master, as I recall. It's still down in the basement and hasn't recorded but 1/10 velocities when used. Garbage.

Bought a ProChrono Digital - same exact unit Walkalong linked to above, and love it. Not picky, despite what it says it worked FINE for me today at 22 degrees and blue skies. It always works. Consistent too. For 95 bucks, at the time I bought it (dunno now) it was cheaper than the beta garbage I tried first too.
